Job Title: Assistant Project Manager Job Description
The Assistant Project Manager supports the successful delivery of commercial construction projects, with a focus on data center and electrical construction. This role is ideal for a construction professional with 3–5 years of experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility in project coordination, scheduling, documentation, and subcontractor communication while developing toward a full Project Manager-level position. The Assistant Project Manager works closely with field teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders from preconstruction through project completion to help ensure projects are delivered on time and in alignment with scope and quality expectations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the coordination and execution of commercial construction projects, including data center and electrical construction initiatives.
- Support project planning activities from preconstruction through completion, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and budgets.
- Help manage and track project budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation to maintain accurate records and support decision-making.
- Maintain and update project schedules, monitor milestones, and track deliverables to keep projects on schedule and within scope.
- Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, and clients to resolve issues, communicate project requirements, and support day-to-day project progress.
- Collaborate with owners, contractors, architects, engineers, and vendors to manage stakeholder expectations and keep all parties informed.
- Lead or participate in project meetings, document action items, and follow up to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Assist with construction reporting and utilize project management software to organize information and support project controls.
- Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications to support field activities and ensure work aligns with design intent.
- Support project closeout activities, including documentation, punch lists, and turnover processes.
- Work both in the office and on active job sites, providing consistent communication and support to project teams.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and follow-through on tasks to help maintain quality and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Skills
- 3–5 years of experience supporting construction projects in an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Coordinator, or entry-level Project Manager capacity.
- Hands-on experience assisting with project budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
- Solid understanding of how construction projects are planned, executed, and closed out.
- Proven ability to work effectively with field teams, subcontractors, and clients to keep projects on schedule.
- Experience coordinating with owners, contractors, architects, engineers, and vendors in a construction environment.
- Comfort leading meetings and driving action items to keep projects moving forward.
- Experience maintaining project schedules, tracking deliverables, and managing project documentation.
- Exposure to project management software and construction reporting tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while staying organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Comfort working both in an office setting and on active construction job sites.
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail and follow-through on assigned tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- Experience supporting commercial construction projects, including data center and electrical construction.
- Experience working across the full project lifecycle from preconstruction through completion.
- Background in general contracting, specialty contracting, owner-side, or construction management is beneficial.
- Interest in and motivation to advance into a full Project Manager role, with a self-starter mindset.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to develop structured processes for tracking project information.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Commercial construction and construction management experience, particularly in fast-paced, technical environments.
Work Environment
This role is based primarily on a data center construction project in Stillwater, OK, with work performed both in the office and on active job sites. The environment involves collaboration with field teams, subcontractors, and a variety of project stakeholders in a commercial and electrical construction setting. The position requires regular presence on-site, adherence to standard safety practices, and comfort navigating an active construction environment with ongoing work and technical infrastructure. Project management software and construction reporting tools are used to support scheduling, documentation, and communication. Per diem is offered in alignment with applicable GSA rate guidelines for eligible travel-related expenses.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
