Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Job Description We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team in a role that involves leading vehicle integration efforts for an advanced defense-related engineering program. The position requires daily use of Creo and collaboration with a balanced team to support the development of an unmanned turret system. This is a dynamic and challenging role that encompasses design, finite element analysis (FEA), and engineering documentation management. Responsibilities

- Lead mechanical engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle, including design, integration, build, testing, troubleshooting, verification, and validation.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to decompose requirements and develop engineering solutions.
- Create and release technical documentation and resolve complex technical challenges.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Drive engineering execution across multiple projects.
- Support program execution by defining engineering tasks, coordinating team activities, tracking progress, and identifying schedule risks.
- Communicate status updates to program leadership.

Essential Skills

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
- Proficiency in mechanical design, integration, build, test, and troubleshooting of complex systems.
- Experience in requirements decomposition and systems engineering.
- Strong skills in engineering documentation, drawing development, review, and release.
- Technical leadership and mentorship abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Defense industry experience.
- Experience with vehicle, ground combat, or complex integrated mechanical systems.
- CAD software proficiency (Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, etc.).
- PDM/PLM system experience.
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience.
- Engineering planning, scheduling, and task coordination experience.
- Active Security Clearance or ability to obtain one.

Work Environment This position is based in a professional engineering office environment with a collaborative setting involving engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program teams. The role primarily involves desk-based work with periodic hands-on involvement in integration, build, and testing activities. Occasional customer interaction in support of program management efforts is expected. The work environment includes a mix of office and technical lab/test areas, and may require personal protective equipment (PPE) during certain activities.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sterling Heights, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
