Electrical Engineer

Job Title: Electrical Engineer (Junior to Intermediate – Building Systems Design) Job Description engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to create construction documents, perform engineering calculations, and support electrical system design from initial concept through project completion. The position provides exposure to highly complex projects, full project life cycles, and a clear path for long-term growth and leadership within a collaborative firm. Responsibilities

- Prepare electrical designs for building systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and emergency power systems.
- Design electrical systems for commercial, institutional, mission critical, and data center projects, ensuring reliable and efficient operation.
- Perform engineering calculations such as load calculations, power studies, equipment sizing, voltage drop calculations, and electrical system analysis.
- Develop, produce, and modify construction drawings and electrical layouts using Revit and AutoCAD within 2D and 3D coordinated design environments.
- Assist in the selection and layout of electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, panels, generators, UPS systems, and related components.
- Review project requirements and apply NEC and local building code requirements throughout system design and plan development.
- Coordinate electrical designs with architects, mechanical engineers, and other project disciplines to ensure fully integrated building systems.
- Support small to mid-sized projects by helping manage schedules, budgets, and deliverables in alignment with project goals.
- Participate in client and internal project meetings, clearly communicating design intent, technical considerations, and project status.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards, documentation quality, and project workflows within the engineering team.

Essential Skills

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- At least 3 years of electrical design experience within building systems.
- Hands-on experience designing power and lighting systems for buildings.
- Proficiency using Revit and AutoCAD to develop and modify electrical drawings.
- Experience performing electrical calculations and equipment sizing, including load calculations and basic power studies.
- Solid understanding of power distribution, lighting, panels, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and fire alarm systems.
- Ability to apply NEC and local building codes during electrical system design and plan development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with project stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment and support multiple projects concurrently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience supporting data center or mission critical facilities projects.
- Experience working within 3D coordinated design environments, including Navisworks.
- Exposure to data center design and mission critical infrastructure.
- Experience performing detailed power studies and advanced electrical system analysis.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or active progress toward professional licensure.
- LEED accreditation or familiarity with sustainable design principles.
- Commissioning experience for electrical building systems.
- Interest in long-term professional growth and leadership opportunities within a smaller, highly collaborative firm.

Work Environment

- This position is based in a New York City office with a hybrid work schedule, typically four days in the office and remote work on Fridays.
- You will join a collaborative team of approximately 15–20 professionals, including architects, engineers, principals, and administrative staff, working closely together on complex projects throughout the United States.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
