Electrical Distribution Project Engineer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Distribution Project Engineer to lead the design and execution of electrical distribution projects up to 34.5kV . This role offers the opportunity to serve as a technical leader, manage complex engineering projects, mentor junior engineers, and work directly with utility clients to deliver innovative and reliable distribution solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in overhead and underground distribution design , project leadership, and utility engineering standards, with a passion for developing client relationships and driving successful project outcomes.
## Key Responsibilities

### Project Execution
Lead electrical distribution projects from conceptual design through construction support and project closeout. Prepare engineering deliverables for multiple distribution line projects. Conduct engineering studies, research, and evaluations to develop equipment and material recommendations. Perform engineering calculations, data analysis, and technical assessments. Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements. Coordinate activities across multiple engineering disciplines. Serve as Engineer of Record and Responsible Engineer for assigned projects. Lead production teams and ensure successful project delivery.
### Client & Stakeholder Management
Interface directly with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders. Identify client objectives and project drivers. Present engineering solutions and recommendations to clients. Respond to client concerns and develop effective resolutions. Support business development efforts and project pursuits. Manage project changes and scope modifications in partnership with project management.
### Technical Leadership
Provide technical leadership for overhead and underground distribution projects. Guide and mentor junior engineers and designers. Review engineering work products to ensure technical accuracy and quality. Drive innovative and practical solutions to meet project goals.
### Quality & Continuous Improvement
Ensure compliance with company quality assurance and quality control procedures. Perform technical reviews of engineering deliverables. Support process improvements and change management initiatives. Promote engineering best practices and continuous improvement efforts.
### Management & Team Leadership
Review and oversee engineering work completed by lower-level staff. Manage project team assignments and workloads. Participate in resource planning, scheduling, and project management meetings. Lead multidisciplinary teams to meet project schedules and quality expectations.
## Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited institution. Minimum 5 years of relevant electrical distribution engineering experience . Experience designing electrical distribution systems between 4kV and 34.5kV . Knowledge of overhead and underground distribution line design. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong communication and client-facing skills. Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment requirements, including BG screening, drug testing, and motor vehicle record checks, as applicable.
## Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer ( P.E. ) License strongly preferred. Experience providing engineering design services for Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs) within the United States. Strong knowledge of: National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) National Electrical Code (NEC) Utility distribution design standards Experience coordinating across procurement, permitting, construction support, land acquisition, and subcontract administration functions. Familiarity with proposal development, engineering estimates, and project pursuit activities. Demonstrated success managing engineering design programs and leading multidisciplinary project teams.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
