Job Title: Project Architect / Project Manager Job Description
The Project Architect / Project Manager leads the design, coordination, and delivery of architectural projects from initial concept through construction completion. This role is ideal for a licensed architect who thrives in a leadership position, balancing design excellence with technical rigor, team coordination, and client communication. You will serve as the backbone of the project team, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while contributing to a culture that values sustainable design, meaningful community impact, and diversity.
Responsibilities
- Lead architectural projects through all phases of design, including conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
- Collaborate closely with internal design teams to produce thoughtful, high-quality design solutions that align with project goals and client expectations.
- Guide iterative design workflows from early concept development through refined, presentation-ready deliverables.
- Oversee architectural documentation, BIM coordination, and drawing production for multiple projects concurrently.
- Ensure all project documentation aligns with internal quality assurance and quality control standards and office best practices.
- Lead zoning and building code analysis and ensure compliance with applicable regulations for permit submissions, including responding to plan review comments.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams, including structural, MEP, civil, and specialty consultants, to achieve fully integrated project solutions.
- Manage technical detailing, material assemblies, and integration across disciplines to support constructible, high-performing designs.
- Oversee production schedules, project timelines, and milestone deliverables to keep projects on track.
- Serve as a primary client contact, managing communication, expectations, and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in proposal development, fee planning, and staffing strategies for new and ongoing projects.
- Lead construction administration efforts, including site visits, review of submittals and RFIs, and coordination with contractors.
- Administer and manage change orders and related documentation during construction.
- Mentor and guide junior staff, fostering professional development, knowledge sharing, and a collaborative team culture.
- Contribute to the evolution of office standards, workflows, and operational procedures to improve efficiency and quality.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education to stay current with industry standards, tools, and best practices.
Essential Skills
- Licensed Architect status is required.
- Accredited professional degree in Architecture, such as a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) or Master of Architecture (M.Arch).
- Approximately 8+ years of professional architectural experience, with a strong background in multi-family and/or mixed-use projects.
- Proven experience leading multiple projects through all phases of design, including construction administration.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee schedules, deliverables, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Proficiency in Revit for design, modeling, and documentation.
- Experience with BIM processes and workflows for coordinated project delivery.
- Demonstrated architectural design skills, including conceptual, schematic, and design development capabilities.
- Hands-on experience with construction documentation and construction administration, including site visits, submittal review, and RFIs.
- Ability to perform zoning and code analysis and manage zoning permits and related approval processes.
- Strong quality assurance and quality control mindset, ensuring accuracy and consistency in drawings and documentation.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Ability to lead and coordinate project teams in a fast-paced, design-driven environment.
- Effective client-facing communication skills with a professional, service-oriented approach.

Work Environment
This role is based in an office environment that supports a fast-paced, design-driven practice. The team uses Revit as the primary BIM and documentation platform, complemented by tools such as SketchUp and Bluebeam for design, visualization, and review. While the position does not follow a formal hybrid schedule, there is flexibility to work from home when needed to support family life, reflecting a supportive and understanding work environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Washington, DC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $115000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. ● 2-3 weeks paid time off. Additionally, our office is closed the last week of December
