Associate Director of Student Activities

Position Overview

This Associate Director contributes to our vibrant campus environment through the support and development of student organizations. This position will be the primary point of contact for tools and services that support our 200+ student organization community. This Associate Director will specifically focus on facilitating organizational training, assisting in the development of leadership curriculum, and planning co-curricular programs that enhance student wellbeing and engagement. The Associate Director of Student Activities- Student Organizations/Leadership Development will collaborate with organization leaders and campus stakeholders to enhance the holistic development of the Butler University student body.

Responsibilities

- Responsible for the administrative oversight and leadership training of more than 200 recognized student organizations.
- Deliver and evaluation leadership curriculum and initiatives offered by the Office of Student Activities.
- Supports all recognized student organizations and provides guidance to them in the execution of their group activities, including assessing risk management, ensuring policy compliance, sharing programmatic best practices, attending meetings and events as needed, and connecting organizations to office/university resources.
- Assists in the oversight of Butler Engage, our student organization management software used for monitoring organizations and tracking involvement opportunities.
- Supervises, mentors, and evaluates the performance of Student Leadership Consultants that are tasked with the facilitation of leadership programming focused on skill development across the eight dimensions of BU|BeWell.
- Develop, Implement, and Assess student organization policies and procedures with a focus on risk mitigation
- Review, Create, and Implement leadership programs, trainings and processes that develop student leaders and enhance student organizations as well contribute to the University and the Division of Student Affairs' strategic plan.
- Plans, implements and assess the annual Student Involvement Fair and other co-curricular involvement opportunities.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates the annual Student Leadership Banquet in collaboration with Student Government Association and other university stakeholders.
- Develops collaborative relationships with faculty and staff for purposes of increasing student involvement, building community, and creating co-curricular student development opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

- Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field with 2+ years of related experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
- Experience advising college students
- Understanding of college student development theory
- Experience working with students/ student organizations to ensure compliance with university policies and procedures in event planning, travel, and other operations
- Expertise planning and implementing skill-based training and leadership development programming
- Command of technology including student organizational management software (Engage), space reservation systems (EMS), social media and other online tools.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in office suite, with an emphasis on excel.
