Job Title: Architectural Designer Job Description
This role seeks an Architectural Designer with strong visualization and rendering capabilities to support a growing design team. You will create high-quality 3D models, renderings, and presentation materials that clearly communicate design intent to clients and project teams, with a focus on corporate workplace and office environments. This opportunity is ideal for a junior-level architect or architectural designer who enjoys the creative side of architecture and has a strong portfolio showcasing rendering and visualization work.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D architectural models and renderings for workplace and office projects, including both exterior and interior views.
- Create photorealistic visualizations, perspectives, and presentation materials for client meetings and design reviews.
- Utilize Revit and SketchUp to build, modify, and refine project models.
- Produce high-quality renderings and walkthroughs using Enscape to enhance visual presentations.
- Generate renderings from existing models and, when needed, perform your own modeling work to support design development.
- Collaborate closely with architects and interior designers throughout all phases of the design process.
- Assist with schematic design and design development by contributing graphics, visual storytelling, and conceptual design studies.
- Support project teams by preparing clear, visually compelling materials that communicate design concepts and solutions.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or a related field.
- 1+ years of professional architectural experience, with flexibility for candidates who demonstrate exceptional rendering skills and a strong portfolio, including recent graduates.
- Strong proficiency in Revit, including the ability to model and render within the software.
- Ability to render effectively in both Revit and SketchUp, using Enscape to augment and enhance renderings.
- Demonstrated ability to create high-quality architectural renderings and visual presentations.
- Strong portfolio showcasing design, visualization, and rendering capabilities.
- Excellent visual communication skills, with a keen eye for composition, lighting, and detail.
- Strong graphic presentation skills and ability to clearly convey design intent through visual materials.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on corporate interior or office projects is beneficial.
- Familiarity with construction documents and architectural documentation processes.
- Understanding of shell and core architecture and workplace planning concepts.
- Background in architecture or interior architecture, with an interest in workplace design.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in preparing design presentations.
Work Environment
The role is based in an established Chicago Loop design studio recognized for excellence in architecture by the local real estate community. The firm is approximately 50 people and offers a collaborative, open-studio layout with cubicles and abundant natural light, fostering teamwork among architecture and interior design professionals. Project teams typically consist of 5–7 people, including a project manager, architects, and interior designers, and focus exclusively on corporate office projects across the US and Canada. The atmosphere is professional yet relaxed, with a business casual dress code. Standard working hours are approximately 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a one-hour swing available for some flexibility. The office includes a break room and supports a culture of collaboration, creativity, and shared ownership of design solutions.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
