Job Title: Mechanical HVAC Project Manager Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical HVAC Project Manager or PM-track candidate with direct experience in delivering mechanical construction projects for an HVAC/mechanical subcontractor. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of contractor-side project execution, field coordination, budgets, procurement, change orders, and project financial ownership. This position supports airport and complex HVAC mechanical construction programs.
Responsibilities
- Own or support the delivery of HVAC/mechanical construction scopes.
- Support project financials, budgets, forecasting, procurement, and change orders.
- Coordinate with field leadership, foremen, superintendents, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Drive project execution, schedule management, and risk mitigation.
- Support multiple active infrastructure projects simultaneously.
- Participate in project buyout, procurement, RFIs, submittals, and owner coordination.
Essential Skills
- Direct experience working for a turnkey HVAC/mechanical subcontractor.
- Understanding of contractor-side mechanical construction delivery, including field execution, equipment buyout, procurement, scheduling, RFIs, submittals, change orders, labor coordination, and project financials.
- Strong field orientation and ability to work directly with superintendents, foremen, and construction teams.
- Experience supporting or leading commercial, healthcare, infrastructure, airport, mission-critical, central plant, industrial, higher-education, utility, or large mechanical construction projects.
- Proficient at reading contract drawings and specifications.
- Above average computer skills, including Word and Excel. Ability to utilize scheduling, cost, and other software programs (Autodesk Build/ACC Build, Navisworks, Revit, Bluebeam).
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing due to required travel to and from multiple project locations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting or managing Central Utility Plants (CUP) or similar mechanical infrastructure environments strongly preferred.
- Mission-critical HVAC infrastructure experience.
- Experience with airport and healthcare projects.
- Design-build mechanical construction experience.
- Experience in union environments.
Work Environment
The position involves a field and project-office hybrid environment, requiring regular travel between active airport project locations. The primary project location is LAWA/LAX project sites across multiple terminals, with a corporate/account location in Cypress, California. The role is salaried, with compensation dependent on experience. A vehicle allowance and gas card are provided. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with a minimum of 40 hours per week. The team structure includes an Acting PX, 4 PMs, 5 PEs, Superintendents, and GFs. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $180000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
