Job Description

This Project Manager role is responsible for leading the planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement coordination, and execution of complex engineered equipment and manufacturing programs. The successful candidate will oversee the full project lifecycle, from initial planning and design through production, testing, commissioning, and delivery. Working closely with engineering, production, procurement, and finance teams, this role is heavily focused on schedule management, cost control, risk mitigation, supplier coordination, and continuous improvement of project execution processes. This opportunity is ideal for a project manager with experience delivering complex industrial or engineered products involving mechanical, electrical, software, controls, and systems engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

- Lead the planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution of complex equipment manufacturing and engineering projects.
- Manage the complete lifecycle of projects, from concept and planning through production, testing, commissioning, and final delivery.
- Create, maintain, and actively manage detailed project schedules using project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent platforms.
- Develop and manage project budgets, including cost tracking, expenditure forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial reporting.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, operations, procurement, quality, and finance to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide regular project status updates, including schedule performance, budget health, risks, and forecasted outcomes to stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks while implementing mitigation plans to minimize impacts on cost, schedule, quality, and delivery.
- Coordinate procurement activities and supplier performance to ensure materials, components, and services support project requirements.
- Leverage a strong understanding of manufacturing operations and production workflows to optimize project execution and resolve operational challenges.
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement of project management processes, reporting systems, tools, and methodologies.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, software, controls, systems, and manufacturing engineers.
- Support testing, commissioning, and deployment activities to ensure operational readiness and successful project handover.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and facilitate effective communication, coordination, and decision-making throughout project execution.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of project planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and operational processes.

Essential Skills

- Minimum three years of project management experience within a manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or technical product environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex engineering, product development, equipment build, or capital project initiatives.
- Proficiency with MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar project management software.
- Strong planning and scheduling capabilities, with experience developing and managing detailed project schedules.
- Experience managing project budgets, cost controls, expenditure tracking, and financial forecasting.
- Strong ability to coordinate cross-functional teams across engineering, production, procurement, finance, and operations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience preparing project status reports, cash flow analyses, forecasts, and executive-level updates.
- Strong risk management skills and the ability to proactively identify and resolve potential project issues.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing operations, production environments, and industrial workflows.
- Experience managing projects with budgets in the multimillion-dollar range.
- Background managing technically complex products or systems involving multiple engineering disciplines.
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of ownership, accountability, and initiative.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on process optimization and operational efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

- Engineering degree, technical diploma, or equivalent technical Background.
- PMP certification or other formal project management credentials.
- Advanced experience using project scheduling and reporting tools such as MS Project and Smartsheet.
- Experience in OEM manufacturing, fabrication, machining, assembly, automation, robotics, industrial equipment, or engineered products.
- Exposure to projects involving mechanical systems, electrical systems, hydraulics, controls, software, or integrated engineered solutions.
- Experience supporting testing, commissioning, startup, or deployment activities.
- Eligibility and flexibility for occasional domestic or international travel.
- Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail related to budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, and risk management.
- Experience working within small, agile organizations where projects move quickly and responsibilities are broad.

Work Environment

This role is primarily on-site within a collaborative engineering and manufacturing environment. The Project Manager will work closely with engineering, production, procurement, finance, operations, and leadership teams to deliver complex equipment and technology projects. The position offers a high degree of autonomy, ownership, and visibility across the business, requiring strong coordination and decision-making skills. The environment is fast-paced and project-driven, with an emphasis on teamwork, continuous improvement, process development, and successful execution of challenging technical programs. Flexible work arrangements may be available when operational requirements allow, though regular on-site presence is important to support project delivery and manufacturing activities.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Burnaby, BC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $53.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
