Job Title: Field Service Engineer Job Description This is a highly technical, hands-on field service position supporting advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment within a cleanroom fab environment. The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing complex electromechanical systems that are critical to semiconductor production operations. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, enjoys solving complex equipment issues, and thrives in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair complex semiconductor manufacturing equipment, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems.
- Respond to equipment alarms, production-impacting failures, and unscheduled downtime events.
- Perform root cause analysis using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, system logs, diagnostic software, and test equipment.
- Diagnose and replace failed components such as sensors, motors, drives, power supplies, relays, valves, and control system hardware.
- Execute preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance activities according to established procedures.
- Support equipment qualification, startup, installation, upgrades, and system verification activities.
- Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and uptime.
- Interface directly with operators, manufacturing personnel, engineers, and customer stakeholders to resolve technical issues and minimize production disruptions.
- Accurately document maintenance activities, troubleshooting findings, corrective actions, and service reports.
- Complete product-specific technical training and certification programs while continuously expanding equipment knowledge.
Essential Skills
- Electrical Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose component-level electrical issues and use meters, diagnostic instruments, and troubleshooting tools.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Experience repairing, maintaining, or troubleshooting complex equipment and ability to replace components.
- Reading Schematics & Wiring Diagrams: Ability to interpret electrical diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Root Cause Analysis: Strong diagnostic mindset with the ability to systematically identify and solve equipment problems.
- Reliability & Coachability: Consistently shows up, learns quickly, follows procedures, and remains calm under pressure.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
- Military veterans with electronics, maintenance, avionics, radar, or electromechanical experience.
- Automotive technicians with strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience as mechatronics technicians, industrial maintenance technicians, or field service technicians.
- Dependable, coachable, able to stay calm under pressure, methodical when troubleshooting, customer-focused, and professional.
Work Environment Work is performed inside highly automated semiconductor manufacturing environments. The role involves direct hands-on troubleshooting and repairing of equipment, rather than sitting at a desk. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
