NOV Artificial Lift is seeking an experienced Shop Technician to join our team at our Midland, TX facility. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of Electric Submersible Pumps (ESPs) and related artificial lift equipment.
We are looking for a safety-focused, dependable technician who can work effectively in a fast-paced shop environment while maintaining high standards for quality, accuracy, and workmanship. Previous experience working with ESP equipment and following established assembly and testing procedures is required.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- 3–5 years of relevant ESP, artificial lift, electrical/mechanical, oilfield service, manufacturing, or equivalent technical experience.
- Demonstrated experience inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding ESP equipment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Ability to diagnose complex components and test issues with minimal supervision.
- Strong knowledge of applicable SOPs, testing requirements, and safe-work practices.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and accurately communicate technical findings.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to train and coach developing technicians.
- Technical Expectations
- Strong knowledge of at least 3 ESP product lines, including motors, pumps, and seals, with the ability to test, inspect, handle, repair, and rebuild components.
- Working knowledge of an additional ESP product line and the ability to troubleshoot common issues.
- Understands how motors, pumps, seals, and other ESP components work together as a complete system.
