About this role

Job Summary:

The
Loss Prevention Officer will be stationed at the store exit and will be responsible
for engaging customers while protecting company assets and supporting overall
profitability. Serving as the final layer of defense against shrinkage, this
role focuses on deterring theft, identifying discrepancies, and maintaining a
visible security presence. The position holder must balance strong vigilance
with professionalism, ensuring security protocols are upheld while delivering a
positive, respectful customer experience.

Specific Duties
and Responsibilities:

· Monitor the exit
of high-risk merchandise frequently targeted by theft, ensuring proper purchase
verification and control.

· Verify that items leaving
the store matches purchase receipts to reduce scanning errors and prevent loss.

· Inspect the exit
area and surrounding spaces for hazards or obstructions that could pose safety
risks or liability concerns.

· Identify and
address attempted theft involving carts or baskets of unpaid merchandise using
non-confrontational techniques.

· Deliver
courteous, final interactions with customers to ensure satisfaction while
reinforcing a visible security presence.

· Observe
front-end operations and employee behavior to detect potential internal theft,
including unauthorized discounts.

· Maintain clear
and organized exit pathways to support smooth customer flow and ensure
emergency access is unobstructed.

· Act as the
primary point of contact for security personnel and law enforcement during
incidents requiring intervention or investigation.

· Conduct routine
checks of exit security systems, including alarms and barriers, to ensure
proper functionality.

· Monitor carts
and baskets to prevent concealment of unpaid merchandise, particularly in
undercarriage or hidden areas.

· Maintain a
professional and approachable presence that promotes customer confidence and
reinforces a safe shopping environment.

· Accurately
record and report all incidents, suspicious activities, and safety concerns in
real time for operational review and legal purposes.
· Provide a consistent, visible presence at the exit to discourage theft
and signal active monitoring.

The Work Environment

· Stand for extended
periods (often 6 to 8 hours per shift).
· Must be able to
lift up to 10 lbs occasionally

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience
· At minimum,
Secondary School diploma or equivalent preferred
· One to
three years of retail experience (preferred).
· Proven track
record of reliability and punctuality.
