Manufacturing Technician, Model Y, General Assembly

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Manufacturing Technician to support the GA4 Model Y Assembly Line, where precision, reliability, and quality are paramount. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and resolving vehicle-level failures during final assembly and validation — ensuring every Model Y meets Tesla’s rigorous standards before delivery.

You will work hands-on with advanced systems including high-voltage architecture, CAN communication, actuation, sensors, and software integration. Your ability to troubleshoot complex issues, document repair actions accurately, and communicate defects effectively to engineers and area owners will directly impact product quality, production efficiency, and continuous improvement.

This is a mission-critical role at the intersection of manufacturing, engineering, and quality — where every repair and feedback loop helps build a better vehicle.

- Identify and investigate mechanical, electrical, software, or integration failures in Model Y vehicles during final assembly, testing, or validation
- Use diagnostic tools (e.g., PCAN Explorer, JIRA, OBD2, multimeters, oscilloscopes) to isolate root causes across subsystems: powertrain, chassis, battery, infotainment, ADAS, and high-voltage systems
- Perform repairs on components including wiring harnesses, sensors, actuators, control modules, cooling systems, and structural assemblies
- Validate repairs through functional testing and ensure full compliance with specifications
- Maintain traceable, auditable repair logs that support quality tracking, engineering analysis, and regulatory compliance
- Proactively escalate recurring, systemic, or high-impact defects to Area Owners, Design for Reliability (DfR), and Engineering Teams
- Provide structured, data-rich feedback: include failure patterns, environmental conditions, repair difficulty, and potential root causes

- Technical certification or associate degree in mechatronics, electrical engineering, or manufacturing is preferred, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in diagnosing and repairing complex systems in vehicles or industrial equipment
- Strong understanding of High-voltage (HV) systems and safety protocols, CAN communication and network diagnostics,Wiring harnesses, connectors, and signal integrity,Actuators, sensors, and control systems in EVs
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical service manuals
- Experience with scripting (Python, MATLAB) for data analysis or automation
- Physical ability to work in a factory environment: standing, lifting up to 50 lbs. , bending, and working in tight spaces
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal

Expected Compensation $28.75 - $42.73/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
