Location:   Proximity to Farmingdale, NY (100% In-Office + Occasional Job Site Visits)

Position Type: Full-Time / Direct Hire

Salary Range: $60,000 – $85,000 / year (commensurate with experience)

Position Summary

A leading commercial equipment and interior construction firm is seeking an Assistant Construction Project Manager to join their project management team in Melville, NY.

This role works closely with Project Managers to oversee the coordination, logistics, and on-site installation of specialized commercial kitchen and foodservice equipment across diverse client sites (restaurants, hotels, hospitals, schools, and sports venues). You will help manage project schedules, change orders, MEP trade coordination, and equipment deliveries to ensure projects are completed accurately, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Project Support & Drafting: Maintain floor plans, equipment specifications, conceptual layout drawings, and budget estimates for client presentations and approvals.

Site & Equipment Logistics: Schedule and coordinate equipment deliveries, oversee on-site receiving/inventory accountability, and verify equipment conditions upon arrival.

Subcontractor & Trade Coordination: Assist with on-site coordination among MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) trades to ensure proper utility rough-ins and seamless equipment hookups.

Change Orders & Documentation: Coordinate the change order process, track project submittals, maintain job files, and support progress and project close-out meetings.

Quality Control & Troubleshooting: Conduct site visits for quality control, research design or construction discrepancies, and recommend practical design adjustments or alternate specifications.

Multi-Project Scheduling: Track timelines across multiple active jobs simultaneously, providing regular progress updates to internal leadership and external clients.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience: 1–3+ years of experience in construction project coordination, assistant project management, or commercial interior build-outs (commercial kitchen, foodservice equipment, or MEP exposure is a major plus).

Education: Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on industry experience preferred.

Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, architectural drawings, and equipment specification sheets. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and project scheduling software.

Site Mobility & Physical Requirements: Comfortable working in an office setting as well as conducting walk-throughs on active, fast-paced commercial job sites.

Communication & Multitasking: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple job sites simultaneously.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $60,000.00 - $85,000.00
