Senior Commercial Relationship Manager – Construction Lending
Position Summary:
Carver Federal Savings Bank is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Relationship Manager with a strong
background in Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Commercial & Industrial (C&I;), and construction lending.
This position is responsible for developing and managing profitable commercial banking relationships, originating
new loans, generating deposits, and expanding relationships with existing and prospective clients.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience originating, structuring, and managing construction loans,
along with strong CRE and C&I; lending experience. This individual should have an established network of
commercial clients and referral sources and the ability to develop new business within Carver’s target markets.
Special Assets and workout experience is welcomed and considered a plus.
The position carries an annual loan production expectation of approximately $35 million.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage a portfolio of commercial banking relationships across CRE, C&I;, and construction
lending.
Originate, structure, negotiate, and close construction, commercial real estate, C&I;, and other commercial
credit facilities.
Generate approximately $35 million in annual loan production while maintaining appropriate credit quality and
risk standards.
Evaluate borrower financial performance, repayment capacity, collateral, project feasibility, construction
budgets, sources and uses, and overall credit risk.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of the construction lending process, including loan structuring, project
budgets, draw schedules, inspections, completion risk, cost overruns, and ongoing project monitoring.
Develop new business through an established network of developers, investors, business owners, brokers,
attorneys, accountants, and other referral sources.
Generate new deposits and identify opportunities to deepen relationships through treasury management and
other banking products and services.
Manage client relationships from prospecting and financial discovery through credit structuring, approval,
closing, retention, and expansion.
Work closely with Credit, Underwriting, Loan Operations, Portfolio Management, and other internal partners to
facilitate the approval and closing process.
Conduct annual reviews and maintain appropriate documentation for assigned relationships.
Monitor covenant compliance, payment performance, construction progress, risk ratings, and overall portfolio
quality.
Proactively identify potential credit deterioration and work with appropriate internal partners to mitigate risk.
Maintain an active pipeline of prospective borrowers and provide regular reporting on business-development
activity and expected production.
Represent Carver in the community and help develop relationships that support the Bank’s
community-development mission.
Qualifications
Commercial Real Estate (CRE) lending experience required.
Commercial & Industrial (C&I;) lending experience required.
Construction lending experience required, including experience originating, structuring, and managing
construction loans.
7–10+ years of commercial lending and relationship management experience within a bank or comparable
regulated financial institution.
Special Assets and/or commercial loan workout experience is preferred and welcomed as an additional
qualification.
Demonstrated success originating, structuring, negotiating, and closing commercial loans.
Proven ability to generate and manage a commercial loan portfolio and achieve significant annual production
goals.
Established network of commercial borrowers, developers, investors, business owners, and referral sources
strongly preferred.
Strong credit analysis, financial analysis, loan-structuring, business-development, negotiation, and
relationship-management skills.
Experience generating deposits and developing broader commercial banking relationships.
Strong knowledge of commercial credit, collateral, loan documentation, and risk-management practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, or a related field preferred; equivalent
relevant experience will be considered.
Compensation
Base Salary Range: $150,000–$200,000 annually
Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, construction lending expertise,
CRE and C&I; background, established relationships, production history, and overall qualifications.
