Job Title: GIS Technician 3 Job Description This role supports the Asset Data & Analytics team by managing and maintaining geospatial data, producing high-quality maps and reports, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of GIS datasets. The GIS Technician 3 performs GIS data management, mapping, reporting, QA/QC activities, application testing, and technical GIS operations, with a focus on utility, natural gas, pipeline, or infrastructure data. The position requires advanced ArcGIS skills, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with business stakeholders in a hybrid, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities

- Manage, maintain, and update GIS datasets to support asset data and analytics initiatives.
- Perform GIS data management tasks, including data editing, digitizing, spatial mapping, and geoprocessing.
- Create high-quality maps, reports, and geospatial deliverables for internal stakeholders and business partners.
- Conduct QA/QC activities to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of GIS data.
- Support technical GIS operations, including spatial analysis, model building, and linear referencing workflows.
- Utilize ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise tools to develop, edit, and analyze geospatial data for utility, natural gas, pipeline, or infrastructure projects.
- Apply linear referencing (LRS) techniques to manage and analyze linear assets and related datasets.
- Support utility network and UPDM (Utility and Pipeline Data Model) implementations and maintenance as needed.
- Use ModelBuilder and, where applicable, Python scripts to automate geoprocessing workflows and improve data processing efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective GIS solutions and deliverables.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users and provide guidance on GIS tools, data, and processes.
- Participate in application testing related to GIS systems, tools, and integrations to ensure functionality and data integrity.
- Leverage tools such as SQL, AutoCAD, SharePoint, and FME (if applicable) to support data integration, analysis, and reporting.
- Support utility mapping activities, including spatial analysis and cartographic production for operational and planning needs.
- Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented culture by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and participating in group discussions and meetings.

Essential Skills

- 5+ years of professional GIS experience.
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Spatial Analysis, or a related field.
- Advanced experience with ArcGIS Pro.
- Strong understanding of GIS data management principles and practices.
- Proven experience performing QA/QC on GIS datasets to ensure data quality and integrity.
- Experience with linear referencing (LRS) for managing and analyzing linear assets.
- Demonstrated ability to create maps, reports, and other geospatial deliverables.
- Proficiency with geoprocessing and spatial analysis within the ArcGIS environment.
- Experience supporting utility, natural gas, pipeline, or infrastructure GIS projects.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly and effectively with business stakeholders.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite for documentation, reporting, and communication.

Additional Skills & Qualifications - Plus not required

- Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise for managing and deploying enterprise GIS solutions.
- Experience with utility network implementations or support.
- Knowledge of UPDM (Utility and Pipeline Data Model).
- Experience with ModelBuilder for automating geoprocessing workflows.
- Experience with Python for scripting and automation in GIS environments.
- Experience with FME for data transformation and integration is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with SQL for querying and managing spatial and non-spatial data.
- Experience with AutoCAD for working with engineering or infrastructure drawings.
- Experience with SharePoint for collaboration and document management.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain focused in a collaborative, sometimes chatty environment.

Work Environment This position operates in a corporate office setting with a hybrid work schedule. The role follows an 8-hour workday with a flexible start time between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. The schedule typically includes four days in the office from Monday through Thursday and one remote day on Friday. The position is open to candidates based in Atlanta, GA or Naperville, IL, and the organization will hire the best candidate regardless of those locations. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
