Pharmacy Manager / Pharmacist in Charge (PIC / COR)
Location: Near Bradenton, FL
Compensation: $75.00 – $80.00 per hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (On-call, weekend, and evening rotation support required)
### Position Overview
Rx relief is seeking an experienced, proactive Pharmacy Manager / Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead pharmacy operations near Bradenton, Florida. In this crucial leadership role, you will hold the PIC/COR (Consultant of Record) license and oversee all daily administrative, operational, and clinical functions. Working alongside a team, you will manage workflows, ensure strict regulatory compliance, optimize inventory and cost-efficiency, and provide high-quality pharmaceutical care.
### Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Staffing: Direct day-to-day acute pharmacy workflows, delegate tasks to tech staff, manage schedules, and provide primary staffing support. On-Call & After-Hours Coverage: Serve as second-line backup for after-hours and weekend on-call rotations in coordination with a remote order entry service. Clinical & Quality Assurance: Oversee medication dispenses, automated refilling systems, medical record entries, and QA monitoring. Prepare end-of-month reporting as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy. IV Compounding & Medicine Preparation: Supervise and prepare intravenous medications (IV compounding experience required; non-chemo). Communicate with nursing and medical staff to offer alternatives during drug shortages. Inventory & Budget Management: Maintain precise inventory control, evaluate stock levels, procure alternative medications during supply chain disruptions, and support cost-containment initiatives. Team Management & Onboarding: Lead hiring, training, competency evaluations, and performance management for pharmacy personnel to achieve departmental standards. Regulatory Compliance & Collaboration: Enforce federal and state medication handling, reception, and storage regulations. Participate in interdisciplinary hospital committees to align pharmacy operations with broader facility goals.
### Qualifications & Physical Demands
Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited program. Licensure: Active, unencumbered Florida Pharmacist License eligible to serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) / Consultant of Record (COR). Clinical Skills: Demonstrated experience in IV compounding (no oncology/chemo compounding required). Leadership Capabilities: Strong background in managing pharmacy staff, organizing operational workflows, and driving continuous process improvement. Communication & Resilience: Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to maintain composure and perform under emergency or high-pressure situations. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for the duration of the shift, bend, stoop, reach, and occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.
