Survey Crew Chief

Overview

We are seeking a Crew Chief I to lead field surveying operations on construction, boundary, and topographic survey projects. This role is responsible for collecting accurate field data, operating modern survey equipment, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to client specifications. The ideal candidate has experience with construction staking, GPS and robotic survey equipment, and enjoys working outdoors in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

- Perform construction staking, topographic surveys, as-built surveys, utility mapping, and control establishment.
- Operate GPS equipment, robotic total stations, data collectors, and other surveying technology.
- Read and interpret construction plans, engineering drawings, and project specifications.
- Collect, verify, and document accurate field data for office processing.
- Coordinate staking requests and communicate project updates with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Maintain field notes, survey records, and daily reporting documentation.
- Conduct equipment inspections and ensure survey vehicles and equipment remain in good working condition.
- Complete daily time tracking and project documentation.
- Follow OSHA regulations and site-specific safety requirements on all projects.

Qualifications

- 2+ years of surveying experience, including construction staking and field data collection.
- Experience operating GPS, robotic total stations, and survey data collectors.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Surveying certifications or related coursework are a plus.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions year-round.
- Comfortable working on active construction sites and uneven terrain.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform fieldwork for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Schedule & Compensation

Pay: $33-$37/hour Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week with overtime opportunities Typical Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM, with occasional Saturday work based on project needs

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $37.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
