Construction Manager

Job Title: Construction Manager Job Description This role oversees complex construction projects with a strong focus on mission-critical, data center, industrial, and other highly technical facilities. You will plan, direct, and coordinate construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives are consistently met. The position requires close collaboration with general contractors, subcontractors, designers, commissioning teams, and multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. You will provide field oversight, drive issue resolution, support commissioning and turnover, and deliver clear, executive-level reporting on project status, risks, and progress. Responsibilities

- Coordinate construction projects by developing detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
- Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients and key stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.
- Recruit project staff when required, assign responsibilities, direct daily activities, evaluate performance, and support the development and maintenance of staff competence.
- Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand to plan and assess the feasibility of construction projects.
- Confer with management, production, and marketing teams to discuss project specifications, procedures, and strategic priorities.
- Review, recommend, and approve contracts and cost estimates to ensure alignment with project objectives and budget constraints.
- Attend general contractor morning coordination meetings to review safety concerns, high-risk work, manpower levels, and planned work activities.
- Verify critical deliveries, inspections, and testing activities to keep the project aligned with schedule and quality requirements.
- Perform regular site walks to monitor construction progress, identify schedule issues before they become delays, and verify that installations match design documents.
- Identify and document quality concerns, ensuring contractors execute work according to plans, specifications, and standards.
- Escalate issues requiring client decisions or leadership input in a timely and structured manner.
- Participate in OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings, schedule reviews, quality reviews, commissioning coordination, design issue resolution, and change management discussions.
- Monitor construction progress in the field, verify safety and quality performance, and identify field issues and risks.
- Coordinate daily with general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, holding them accountable for commitments, milestones, and contract requirements.
- Track critical milestones, review recovery plans, and escalate schedule risks to ensure timely project delivery.
- Drive closure of design, construction, procurement, and commissioning issues by coordinating resolution among stakeholders.
- Support commissioning and turnover activities, including IST, commissioning coordination, and operational readiness, while removing handover blockers.
- Review TIAs, CORs, RFIs, and scope changes to assess their impact on project cost and schedule and support effective change management.
- Reinforce a strong safety culture on site and ensure installations meet all specifications, standards, and quality expectations.
- Track action items, maintain up-to-date risk and status logs, and provide clear reporting and escalations to site leadership and executive stakeholders.

Essential Skills

- Knowledge of business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
- Proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
- 57 years of experience in construction, including at least 5 years supporting mission-critical, data center, industrial, or other highly technical construction projects.
- A minimum of 5 years of total construction experience with responsibility for safety, quality, schedule, and cost management.
- Experience managing large commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or data center construction projects.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, including electrical, mechanical, controls, and fire protection.
- Experience working closely with general contractors, subcontractors, designers, and commissioning teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead field operations and site coordination on active construction projects.
- Proven ability to identify risks, drive issue resolution, and hold contractors accountable for commitments and milestones.
- Comfort working in environments with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Strong communication and executive-level reporting skills, including status reporting, risk updates, and escalation of major issues.
- Bachelors degree in business administration or a related field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- PMI or PMP certification preferred.
- Backgrounds such as Construction Manager, Project Manager, Senior Superintendent, MEP Project Manager, Owners Representative, Data Center Construction Manager, Mission Critical Project Manager, or Commissioning Manager transitioning into construction management are highly relevant.
- Experience with data centers, hospitals, semiconductor facilities, power generation or utility infrastructure, industrial manufacturing plants, or other mission-critical facilities.
- Experience participating in OAC meetings, schedule reviews, quality reviews, commissioning coordination, and change management discussions.
- Familiarity with reviewing TIAs, CORs, RFIs, and scope changes and understanding their impact on cost and schedule.
- Experience supporting IST, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.
- Demonstrated ability to reinforce safety culture and ensure installations meet specifications and standards.

Work Environment This role is based in the Phoenix area and follows a standard schedule of approximately 40 hours per week. The position is heavily field-focused, requiring regular site walks, participation in on-site coordination meetings, and close interaction with construction teams and stakeholders. You will work in active construction environments, including mission-critical and highly technical facilities such as data centers, industrial plants, and similar sites, where safety and quality are paramount.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $85.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
