The Opportunity: Director, Employee Experience
At Red River Co-op, we’re building something new.
We’re creating our first dedicated Employee Experience function to shape a more consistent, connected employee journey — from attraction and onboarding to engagement, recognition, and development.
Reporting to the Vice-President, People and Capability, the Director, Employee Experience will shape and lead this new function, connecting people strategy, communications, talent practices and change initiatives into a unified approach that helps employees feel connected, empowered and proud to contribute. This position is located at our Home Office located at 10 Prairie Way, in Winnipeg, MB.
This is a unique opportunity for a strategic, people-focused leader to build something meaningful from the ground up and strengthen how Red River Co-op attracts, engages and retains exceptional talent.
What You’ll Do:
As Director, Employee Experience, you will:
- Lead the design and execution of Red River Co-op's Employee Experience strategy by assessing current capabilities, identifying opportunities, and setting a multi-year roadmap.
- Build Red River’s capability across talent acquisition, workforce planning, employee engagement, recognition, belonging, and organizational change.
- Create a compelling employer brand that attracts and retains top talent.
- Partner with leaders to build employee listening, communications and engagement, and change leadership capability throughout the organization.
- Develop recognition and belonging initiatives that reinforce our values and culture.
- Establish measures and analytics that demonstrate impact across recruitment, engagement, and retention.
- Collaborate closely with HR Business Partners, HR Operations, Marketing, operational leaders, and external partners to deliver a consistent employee experience across the organization.
- Lead and develop the Employee Experience team as the function evolves.

- Confidence in the Employee Experience function across the organization.
What You Bring:
You are a builder, strategist and relationship-focused leader who can turn vision into practical action. You'll bring:
- 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in employee experience, organizational development, human resources, communications, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success designing and implementing enterprise-wide people, culture, or organizational initiatives.
- Experience leading employee engagement, organizational change, communications, talent acquisition and/or workforce planning programs.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to connect people strategies to organizational outcomes.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Experience using employee feedback, workforce data, and people metrics to drive decisions and measure success.
- The ability to lead through ambiguity, build credibility quickly, and create momentum for change.
Education & Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, Communications, Organizational Development or a related discipline.
- Change Management certification and/or a CPHR designation is considered an asset.
