This role offers an experienced Environmental Engineer or Environmental Geologist the opportunity to serve as a Project Manager based in Los Angeles, leading complex environmental compliance and permitting projects from proposal through completion. You will oversee technical execution, manage client relationships, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality environmental solutions. The position is ideal for a seasoned environmental professional with a strong background in hazardous waste management, water quality compliance, and regulatory programs who is ready to take ownership of major projects and work closely with clients, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and internal staff on large, high-profile infrastructure and transportation initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Manage environmental projects focused on regulatory compliance, hazardous waste, water quality, environmental permitting, and environmental reporting from initiation through closeout.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the entire project lifecycle, ensuring clear communication, responsiveness, and strong long-term relationships.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and overall performance to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and in alignment with quality standards.
- Prepare, review, and approve technical reports, Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory submissions.
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies to obtain necessary approvals, address compliance issues, and support permitting processes.
- Lead and oversee environmental investigations, including soil sampling and related field activities, ensuring proper data collection, documentation, and interpretation.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior staff, supporting their professional development and ensuring technical excellence across project teams.
- Manage subcontractors and outside consultants, including geotechnical and environmental specialists, to ensure they meet project objectives, schedules, and quality expectations.
- Conduct client meetings, presentations, and progress updates, and actively develop and maintain long-term business relationships with new and existing clients.
- Support proposal development by contributing to scope preparation, cost estimating, scheduling, and technical approaches for new and existing clients.
- Ensure all projects comply with applicable environmental regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, CEQA, and other relevant programs, as well as internal quality standards.
- Oversee environmental remediation and hazardous materials-related tasks, ensuring safe, compliant, and effective field and office practices.
- Collaborate with internal teams across disciplines, including geotechnical and environmental engineering, to deliver integrated solutions on large infrastructure projects.
- Leverage existing relationships with regulatory agencies and industry clients to support business development and client growth initiatives.
- Travel to project sites as needed to oversee field work, meet with clients and regulators, and verify project progress and compliance.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of environmental consulting or related industry experience.
- Demonstrated project management experience overseeing multiple environmental projects simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and regulatory compliance programs, including CERCLA, RCRA, and CEQA.
- Hands-on experience with hazardous waste management and compliance programs.
- Experience with water quality compliance, water permitting, and related regulatory processes.
- Proficiency in environmental reporting and preparation of regulatory documentation and permit applications.
- Experience conducting environmental investigations, including Phase I and Phase II assessments and soil sampling.

- Ability to manage clients, internal staff, and subcontractors effectively to achieve project goals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical reports and present complex information to diverse audiences.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or Professional Geologist (PG) license.
- Experience managing projects throughout California, including familiarity with state and local regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in environmental project management, hazardous waste compliance, water quality compliance, and environmental permitting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Registered Geologist or Professional Geologist credential, or eligibility to obtain such registration.
- Experience with geotechnical or geotechnical engineering projects and coordination with geotechnical teams.
- Current HAZWOPER certification or experience working under HAZWOPER requirements for hazardous materials and remediation projects.
- Experience serving as a regulatory representative or liaison with agencies on behalf of clients.
- Existing relationships with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and industry clients in California.
- Experience supporting business development, including proposal preparation, client outreach, and growth initiatives.
- Experience working on large, complex infrastructure and transit projects, such as airports, ports, rail, and tunnel projects.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff in technical and project management skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent assignments in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
This position is based on-site in downtown Los Angeles in a hybrid field and office environment, typically involving three days in the office and two days in the field each week. You will work closely with a growing team of approximately 25 professionals on a robust portfolio of projects extending through at least 2028, including major infrastructure and transit initiatives across the United States. Field work will involve visits to active project sites for environmental investigations, soil sampling, and oversight of remediation or construction-related activities, while office work will focus on project management, technical report preparation, regulatory coordination, and client communication. The environment emphasizes collaboration, direct interaction with ownership and senior leadership, and opportunities to influence project strategy and company growth while working with modern environmental and geotechnical tools, systems, and practices.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. 401
