POSITION SUMMARY:
World Relief seeks an Advocacy Specialist to engage with, equip, and empower churches, pastors, and community members to speak out on behalf of and in partnership with the immigrant community for pro-immigrant policies consistent with WR’s positions. This is a hybrid role 4 days in office; 1 remote.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize and attend targeted advocacy events, including meetings, seminars, and conferences across the state to further advocacy agenda
- Represent the organization at legislative hearings, committee meetings, and public forums
- Coordinate with marketing teams to produce advocacy related content.
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, churches, policymakers, coalition partners, and related industry fields to advance advocacy goals
- Develop and implement advocacy strategies, coordinate campaigns, and track progress to ensure objectives are met
- Monitor legislation and public policies, prepare policy briefs, reports, and recommendations, and communicate potential impacts to internal teams and external stakeholders
- Maintain records of engagement and keep track of metrics related to church and advocacy partnerships
- Train and support community in advocacy efforts
- Engage in direct negotiations with government officials, industry partners, and advocacy groups to achieve favorable outcomes as a registered lobbyist
- Steward relationships with advocacy funding partners and complete grant metrics and renewals

- Valid drivers license, access to reliable vehicle and ability to pass MVR standards
- Bachelor’s degree
- Passionate about social justice, raising awareness and creating meaningful dialogue around issues related to immigration
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years applicable experience in public policy, political science, mezzo/macro social work, community engagement, international relations or a related field
- Experience in public service or policy work preferred and/or knowledge of policy-making process and public advocacy principles
- Fluent in Microsoft software including Excel, Word, Outlook
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize in a fast paced and fluid environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, and a passion for social justice are essential
- Demonstrated knowledge of immigration policy
