About this role

The Quality Engineer serves as a key driver of product quality, process excellence, and continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. This role partners closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and quality management system requirements.

Responsibilities:

Lead First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and review documentation to ensure compliance with AS9102 and customer requirements.

Develop and maintain inspection plans, inspection checklists, control plans, and quality documentation.

Review, evaluate, and process internal and external Supplier Deviation Requests (SDRs), ensuring proper risk assessment and disposition.

Drive scrap reduction, defect prevention, and continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis and problem-solving methodologies.

Lead Material Review Board (MRB) activities, evaluate nonconforming material, and determine appropriate disposition actions.

Analyze manufacturing, inspection, supplier, and customer quality data to identify trends, determine root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions.

Develop PFMEA and risk-based quality plans to proactively identify and mitigate process and product risks.

Lead cross-functional teams in root cause investigations utilizing 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto Analysis.

Develop, implement, and maintain quality processes, procedures, work instructions, and documentation to strengthen the Quality Management System (QMS).

Support and drive Statistical Process Control (SPC) implementation to improve process capability and reduce variation.

Manage Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) activities, including CARs, PARs, and SCARs, through closure and effectiveness verification.

Evaluate Return Material Authorizations (RMAs), conduct failure investigations, and prepare comprehensive customer reports.

Coordinate and prepare Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation and submissions to customers as required.

Support ISO 9001 and AS9100 certification activities, gap assessments, compliance initiatives, and continuous system improvements.

Participate in internal, customer, supplier, and third-party audits and support timely resolution of audit findings.

Support source inspections as required.

Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to improve product quality, reduce defects, and support process improvements.

Ensure compliance with applicable customer, regulatory, industry, and internal quality requirements.

Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum experience supporting manufacturing operations in a quality engineering or quality assurance environment.

Demonstrated experience resolving quality issues directly on the manufacturing floor.

Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 requirements.

Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies, including SPC, PFMEA, CAPA, Root Cause Analysis, and Continuous Improvement.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and military standards.

Understanding of GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5.

Experience managing nonconformances, MRB activities, supplier quality, and customer quality issues.

Proven ability to identify problems, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.

Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and project management skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel for data analysis.

Must be authorized to work and reside in the US and must be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government to confirm with, but not limited to, U.S. export control regulations (ITAR).

Preferred

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

Experience with Apriso Manufacturing Execution System (MES).

Experience with Net-Inspect and aerospace industry quality requirements.

Working knowledge of PPAP, AS9102 First Article Inspection, and advanced statistical analysis tools.

Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
