The Opportunity
BAE Systems is seeking a Summer 2027 Computer Science Intern. Join our Data Analysis Software Team within our Software and Tools Program Area and become a member of a highly productive software team , where each employee has the opportunity to grow their skills and work on rewarding projects in support of the Portfolio Acquisition Executive Strategic Systems Programs (PAE SSP) . The focus of this position is developing scientific application software used to interpret and convert submarine-generated data into engineering format to be used to generate statistical analysis output used by engineering analysts to evaluate the ship subsystems’ performance. The selected candidate will have completed one or more semesters of Java development language, completed one or more college level statistics courses, have a familiarity with algorithm development, and software engineering disciplines and processes. The selected candidate will work closely with talented software developers and test engineers supporting the PAE SSP throughout the software development lifecycle from software requirements analysis to software detail design, software development and software acceptance testing.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Enrolled student at an accredited 4-year college / university having completed a minimum of two years (Sophomore) towards a Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Data Engineering, Information Science, or other related degree
- Basic knowledge of fundamental software testing concepts, Best practices, and procedures
- Understanding of software engineering principles
- Experience with programming and scripting languages (Python, SQL, and Java)
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Teams, etc.)
- Ability to work well with cross-functional teams
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively with others
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated self-starter with organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
- Ability to interact with and effectively present information to peers and management
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience with programming and scripting languages ( MATLAB )

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $49592 - $68993

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
