Engineer Intern – System Integration, Summer 2027

Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a motivated and detail ‑ oriented Systems Engineering Intern to join our 2027 Summer Internship Program. In this role, you will work alongside experienced systems engineers performing system ‑ level verification for a high ‑ visibility U.S. Navy weapon system program. Your work will directly support mission success for our partners and contribute to the defense of our nation.

As a Systems Engineering Intern, you will gain experience in:

- Conducting system integration activities in accordance with approved policy
- Supporting the development and maintenance of technical integration plans and integration traceability matrices for various weapons system alterations
- Performing impact analysis and collaborating with engineering teams to support interface assessments
- Preparing technical documentation, presentations, data packages, and white papers

In this position, you will participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op
Program, where you will Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our
business leaders and the other students in the program.

Our organization has supported the U.S. Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) continually since the program’s inception in the 1950s. SSP developed the first sea-based, underwater-launched Strategic Weapon System (SWS), a defense system that is truly critical to our national security. For more than six decades, SSP has maintained and upgraded this weapon system and we have been there every step of the way. The sea-based SWS is the ultimate stealthy weapon system and as the first leg of the U.S. nuclear triad. With over 70% of our nation’s nuclear arsenal its importance to maintaining world peace cannot be overstated. The development of Columbia, the most advanced nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed submarine ever designed, as well the next D5LE2 weapon system is under way and will begin to be rolled out over the next decade. The Navy projects this system to be operational through 2084, meaning the program will have a total life span of more than 120 years. This is a truly unique program and BAE Systems employees on this program understand they are part of an important legacy.

- Must be currently enrolled in Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline and complete your junior year prior to Summer 2027
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- GPA of 3.0 or higher highly preferred

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $49592 - $68993

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
