The Opportunity
BAE Systems is seeking a Systems Engineering Intern with a Mechanical Engineering Focus for Summer 2027. Join our System Test team within our System Realization Division and become a member of a diverse, enthusiastic, and highly productive team , where each employee has the opportunity to grow their skills and work on rewarding systems level integration and verification projects in support of the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs, the sea-based leg of the U.S. nuclear triad. Working closely with interdisciplinary teams focused on system level integration and verification and applying GD&T methodology to mechanical data analysis, the selected candidate will support system level mechanical requirement documentation and verification for integration of the Strategic Weapon System by performing the following functions:
- Perform analysis of mechanical measurement data applying GD&T methodology for verification of system level requirements
- Deliver written reports detailing data analysis process and results
- Provide system level review and response for non-conformances
- Perform system level requirement tracking and verification traceability via a Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Enrolled student at an accredited 4-year college / university having completed a minimum of two years (Sophomore year) towards a Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other engineering-related degree
- Experience with mechanical data analysis
- Exposure to or application of GD&T
- Basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures within Mechanical Engineering
- Ability to work well with cross-functional teams
- Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word, etc.)
- Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to work independently
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience working with 3D modeling or 3D metrology software
- Understanding of requirement documentation and traceability
- Familiarity with the System Engineering “Vee” framework
- Familiarity with MBSE modeling languages, frameworks, and tools such as SysML, DoDAF, UML, Cameo

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $49592 - $68993

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
