Job Title: Lab Assistant I Job Description
The Lab Assistant I will work in a high-volume production environment, playing a vital role in clinical lab science. This position involves handling various tasks that contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the laboratory operations.
Responsibilities
- Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
- Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
- Scan and/or enter specimen and patient information into the system.
- Ensure all lab equipment is functioning properly and perform minor maintenance as needed.
- Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues.
- Replenish test bench supplies as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comfortable handling biological specimens.
- Ability to accurately identify specimens.
- Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.
- High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred.
Work Environment
This position is 100% onsite with working hours from 6:00 pm to 2:30 am, plus every other Saturday. There is a possibility of additional hours on Saturdays. Employees will receive a 10% shift differential for working the second shift. A lunch/dinner break is provided, and the potential for overtime is required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Itasca, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
