Regional Aerospace Specialist

Job Scope

The Regional Aerospace Specialist serves as a technical quality subject matter expert for aerospace products, customer specifications, qualification requirements, and AS9100. Reporting to the Regional Quality Manager, this individual contributor role is based primarily in Los Angeles and supports aerospace operations across the Americas. The position leads assigned product qualification and requalification activities and partners with internal teams and customers to ensure applicable aerospace requirements are effectively implemented.

Key Responsabilities

Aerospace Specifications & Customer Requirements

- Serve as a regional technical quality resource for aerospace customer specifications, qualification requirements, and AS9100.
- Review new and revised customer specifications, assess technical and quality impacts, and coordinate implementation of applicable requirements.
- Serve as a key quality contact for aerospace customers regarding specifications, qualifications, and technical requirements, including required NOI, NOE, or equivalent notifications.

Product Qualification & Technical Support

- Lead assigned aerospace product qualification and requalification activities, including new products, raw material replacements, transfer of works (TOW), and other changes affecting product requirements.
- Review and prepare qualification plans, statement of work (SOW) test results, technical data, and supporting documentation for compliance with applicable requirements and coordinate customer submissions through completion.
- Ensure all product, process, and specification changes are reviewed and approved by customers prior to implementation and assessed for potential impact on customer applications.
- Analyze qualification and test data to identify gaps, trends, risks, and additional testing needs.
- Provide technical guidance on test-result variation, including troubleshooting unexpected results and determining appropriate follow-up testing, root cause analysis, or corrective actions.

Aerospace Quality Systems & Compliance

- Serve as the designated owner for process control documentation (PCD), ensuring requirements remain current, controlled, and aligned with customer specifications, qualification requirements, and the Quality Management System.
- Support AS9100 and applicable customer requirements, including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, control plan, internal and external audits, technical responses, and follow-up actions.
- Recommend improvements to quality processes, documentation, testing, and compliance controls.

Cross-Functional & Regional Support

- Partner with Quality, Technical, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Supplier Quality to evaluate raw material and process changes for potential impact on aerospace specifications and product qualifications.
- Lead and support investigations and resolution of aerospace product and customer quality issues and provide technical guidance to site and regional teams.

What Success Looks Like during your First Year

- Develop strong working knowledge of assigned aerospace products, customer specifications, qualification requirements, and AS9100 requirements, becoming a trusted technical resource for the organization.
- Lead assigned qualification and requalification projects through accurate and timely customer submission and closure.
- Strengthen processes for evaluating and implementing specification changes, qualification requirements, testing, and documentation.
- Build effective relationships with aerospace customers and cross-functional partners while identifying practical improvements that strengthen aerospace quality and execution.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. 
 
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant quality, technical, or product qualification experience in a medium- to high-hazard chemical manufacturing environment.
- Experience interpreting customer specifications and technical requirements.
- Experience with qualification testing, test data analysis, and technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements.
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, or related quality planning tools.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively with customers and cross-functional stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

- Aerospace or aerospace materials quality experience.
- Experience leading aerospace product qualification and requalification activities.
- Experience supporting AS9100 internal and certification audits and working directly with aerospace customers.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or related continuous improvement training or certification.

Working Environment

Work Schedule

- Primarily based at the Los Angeles site with support for other aerospace operations, primarily within the Americas.
- Travel to company, supplier, and customer locations may be required based on business needs.
- Flexibility to support regional sites and functions across different operating schedules and time zones may be required.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

- Work is performed in office, laboratory, and chemical manufacturing environments and may require applicable PPE.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation

What can we offer you?

Salary: $125,000-$160,000 per year

The compensation range reflects the Company’s reasonable expectation at the time of posting, considering education, experience, and training.
