About this role
Citi is looking for an Investment Banking Associate to join its Institutional Banking team and play a central role in delivering strategic advisory services and capital markets solutions to clients. In this position, you will act as a trusted advisor to clients across mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising transactions, combining analytical rigor with relationship expertise to drive meaningful outcomes. Responsibilities
- Execute investment banking transactions across M&A and capital raising mandates, ensuring high-quality delivery at each stage of the deal lifecycle.
- Advise clients on strategic financial transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and capital markets activity, serving as a key point of contact throughout the process.
- Develop and review financial analyses and transaction models to support client recommendations and deal structuring decisions.
- Guide and mentor analysts, providing clear direction, structured feedback, and appropriate information flow to support their development and deal execution contributions.
- Contribute to client development efforts by identifying opportunities, supporting pitches, and helping to build and sustain long-term client relationships.
- Track industry trends and competitive dynamics to inform business development strategy and strengthen Citi's market position.
- Evaluate risk considerations in business decisions, ensuring that client activity and internal practices align with applicable regulations, firm policies, and sound ethical standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5 to 8 years of experience in investment banking or a closely related financial services role.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate corporate transactions and financial structures across a range of deal types.
- Track record of building detailed financial analyses to support strategic decision-making in a client-facing context.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information concisely to clients and senior stakeholders.
- Series 79 and Series 63 licenses, current or ability to obtain.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business Administration, providing a strong foundation in corporate finance and strategic thinking.
- Experience supporting client development activities, including market research, industry analysis, and pipeline tracking.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced deal environment.
