About this role
The Development Manager is accountable for the leadership and management of complex asset development projects from strategic planning and concept development through design, procurement, construction, handover and operational readiness. The role ensures alignment with approved business plans, development strategies, quality expectations, governance requirements and Stage Gate approvals.
Requirements
Key Accountabilities:
Lead development activities throughout the asset lifecycle.
• Drive Stage Gate submissions and governance approvals.
• Manage consultant procurement, contracts and performance.
• Oversee design quality, budgets, programmes and risk management.
• Lead stakeholder engagement with operators, delivery partners and authorities.
• Support construction, commissioning and handover.
Responsibilities by Development Phase:
• Concept Stage: define briefs, lead workshops, approve concepts, manage budgets and risks.
• SD/DD Stage: coordinate consultants, monitor programme and quality, review design compliance.
• Construction Stage: participate in site reviews, resolve issues, monitor permits and approvals.
• Handover: support inspections, commissioning, defects management and operational readiness.
Leadership Responsibilities:
Provide leadership to development teams, mentor staff, influence stakeholders and support strategic initiatives across the destination.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Real Estate Development or related discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
5–10+ years in large-scale hospitality, entertainment, mixed-use, tourism or destination development projects with responsibility from concept through delivery.
