What you'll do:

- You will manage, investigate, and log justifications relating to transaction monitoring system alerts generated by the bank for customers in Australia and New Zealand, ensuring thorough documentation and timely resolution.

- You will develop and implement a best-in-class alert monitoring function within the Oceania Compliance team by leveraging experience from other leading banks and adapting proven methodologies.

- You will actively participate in conceptualising and formulating new policies, frameworks, programmes, and procedures in collaboration with other business units as required, particularly regarding new AML/CTF standards and other financial crime regulatory authorities such as AUSTRAC and DIA.

- You will assist in the fiscally responsible use of resources while maintaining high standards of compliance monitoring.

- You will conduct day-to-day transaction monitoring activities to identify any potential suspicious or fraudulent activity within customer accounts.

- You will conduct Quality Assurance (QA) activities related to Transaction monitoring-related activities.

- You will serve as the point of contact for branch-specific transaction monitoring system development and changes, liaising with internal departments on related issues.

- You will analyse data from customers and financial institutions to detect fraudulent activity and conduct enhanced due diligence as necessary.

- You will ensure that AML compliance risks are adequately identified, assessed, monitored, controlled, and reported according to regulatory requirements.

- You will support internal stakeholders including managers and regional staff by building strong working relationships that promote awareness of transaction monitoring system requirements.

- You will prepare analytics and reports to monitor transaction monitoring system alert outcomes, liaising with relevant compliance functions for timely reporting.

What you bring:

- At least two years’ work experience at a financial institution relating to financial services compliance provides essential industry context (required).

- Previous experience with financial crime compliance equips you with practical insights into risk assessment processes (preferred).

- Previous experience undertaking Quality Assurance activities.

- A solid understanding of banking-related local regulatory requirements

- Excellent knowledge of Australian AML/CTF regulations

- Strong communication skills allow you to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical specialists and non-specialists alike.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously to ensure deadlines are met

- Being detail-oriented and diligent means you consistently deliver thorough investigations while maintaining accurate records.

- Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively

- Degree qualification demonstrates your academic foundation for success in this role (required).

- AML/CTF-based qualifications are considered advantageous for candidates looking to further specialise within this field.
