The Study at University of Chicago is seeking dependable and service-oriented House Attendants to help maintain a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our guests. This hands-on role supports the daily Housekeeping operation by maintaining guest floors and common areas, transporting linens and supplies, assisting Room Attendants, and responding to guest requests throughout the hotel.
The House Attendant plays an important behind-the-scenes role in keeping the Housekeeping team moving efficiently. From ensuring Room Attendants have the supplies they need to maintaining clean and orderly guest corridors, every task contributes to the overall guest experience.

Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of guest floors, corridors, elevator landings, housekeeping areas, and other assigned spaces.
- Vacuum guest hallways and clean furniture, baseboards, pictures, light fixtures, window ledges, doors, and other surfaces throughout assigned areas.
- Collect used linens from guest floors and transport them to designated laundry or linen areas.
- Deliver clean linens, towels, guest amenities, and housekeeping supplies to guest floors and designated storage areas.
- Maintain organized and properly stocked housekeeping landings, linen closets, and supply areas.
- Assist Room Attendants with stripping beds, changing linens and duvet covers, moving furniture, retrieving supplies, and other physically demanding tasks as needed.
- Support the timely preparation of guest rooms by helping Room Attendants maintain an efficient flow of linens, supplies, and equipment throughout the shift.
- Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests, including delivering additional towels, bathroom amenities, bedding, rollaway beds, and other requested items.
- Assist with deep-cleaning projects and other detailed housekeeping assignments as directed.
- Identify and promptly report maintenance concerns, damaged items, or unsafe conditions to Engineering or Housekeeping leadership.
- Protect guest privacy and maintain the confidentiality and security of guest information, room assignments, keys, and occupied guest rooms.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping, Guest Services, Engineering, and other hotel departments to support guest requests and hotel operations.
- Assist with Laundry operations as needed, including moving, organizing, and stocking linens.
- Maintain housekeeping equipment, carts, storage areas, and assigned workspaces in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Assist fellow team members and other areas of the hotel as needed to support efficient operations and a positive guest experience.
- Follow all company safety, security, sanitation, and lost-and-found procedures.
Fundamentals
- Previous hotel housekeeping, custodial, or professional cleaning experience preferred.
- A genuine commitment to hospitality, cleanliness, teamwork, and creating a welcoming environment for guests.
- Ability to work independently while remaining attentive and responsive to the needs of Room Attendants, guests, and the overall Housekeeping operation.
- Strong organization and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hotel environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with guests and team members.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift and regularly bend, reach, kneel, climb, push, pull, carry, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to reach overhead, perform cleaning tasks, and work in confined spaces as required.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move up to 75 pounds as required to perform essential job duties.
