Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Benefits Specialist. Preferred availability is four hours per day, Monday through Friday, for a total of 20 hours per week. The Benefits Specialist provides administrative support for employee benefit programs, including health, welfare, retirement, leave of absence, and worker’s compensation processes. This role helps maintain accurate benefit data, supports timely employee lifecycle processing, responds to routine benefit questions, and assists with communications and documentation to support a consistent employee experience.
Benefits Administration & Data Support:
- Support day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs, including health, welfare, retirement and wellness programs.
- Assist with benefit vendor billing, enrollment processing, payroll benefit deduction review, and employee benefit data updates.
- Support timely processing of employee lifecycle events, including new hires, benefit changes, leaves of absence, and terminations.
- Provide administrative support for benefit compliance activities, required reporting, and filings as directed.
- Help maintain accurate benefit information in HRIS, payroll, and benefits administration systems.
Employee Support & Communications:
- Respond to employees with routine benefit questions, including questions related to forms, enrollment, and system navigation; escalate complex questions as appropriate.
- Assist with drafting, updating, and distributing employee benefit communications to support employee understanding and utilization of benefit, wellness, and recognition programs.
Leave, Worker’s Compensation & Retirement Support:
- Assist with leave of absence and worker’s compensation administration, including documentation, follow-up, and coordination with appropriate internal and external partners.
- Act as a backup for retirement plan funding and loan adjustment processes.
Reporting & Process Documentation:
- Prepare routine reports and provide data support for benefit-related processes as requested.
- Assist with research, analysis, and documentation related to employee benefits programs and processes.
- Document work processes to support consistency, cross-training, and ongoing process improvement.
The US national hourly range for this non-exempt position is $33.04-39.64. The base hourly range displayed reflects the targeted hiring range for positions across all US locations. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, work location, and relevant education or experience. This is not a benefits eligible position.
Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. degree in business or human resources required or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 2+ years of human resources, benefits administration or payroll experience
- Experience with HRIS or benefits administration platforms; UKG and/or PlanSource experience preferred.
- Experience supporting benefit processes, enrollment activities, payroll deductions, employee data changes, or leave administration.
- Foundational knowledge of U.S. employee benefits required; experience with Canadian employee benefits is a plus.
- General knowledge of benefit and leave-related requirements, such as ERISA and FMLA.

Work Environment
Most positions located out of our global headquarters in Bloomington, MN will work a hybrid work schedule where you will work 3 collaboration days a week. Additional in office time may be required to support team/project needs.
