The information below reflects the standard job description for this position:
Researches, plans, designs, develops, and tests optical elements including lenses, filters, beamsplitters, reflective, and diffractive elements in mechanical structures, assemblies, mechanisms, and fixtures that allow optical systems to meet performance and operational requirements.Designs precision components and mechanisms to enclose, retain, and maintain alignment of optical elements within system tolerance specifications. Selects materials based on optical alignment tolerances, manufacturing tolerances, induced environments, and ergonomic requirements. Leads or produces design documentation packages for suppliers which consists of optical and mechanical drawings with specification, tolerance, and special process steps. Generate requirements, specifications, performance budgets, build and test procedures, verification plans, and operating manuals.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelors degree or higher in engineering, such as Mechnical Optical Sciences or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Proficiency in a range of standard design tools applied to Optomechanical design such as CAD, CREO, Solidworks, or other relevant assets.
* Experience as a Mechanical Engineer with a background in optical, optics or other relevant areas.
* Familar with design of assembly and manufacturing techniques.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Secuirty clearance; US Citizenship required.
Desired Skills
* Experience in the aerospace and/or defense industry.
* Drafting Experience
* GD&T Experience
* Python or coding experience
* Experience as an Integrated Product Team Lead (IPT) and or Cost Account Managment (CAM).
* Proposal writting expereicne
* Possession of Top Secret clearance and or TS/SCI
* Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $135700.00 - $251900.00

* For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
