You will work on OS, kernel, drivers, and core services such as file systems, graphics, networking, USB, WiFi, startup sequence, and camera services. You will participate in the full embedded software development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to debugging, testing, and deployment, ensuring a stable, high-performance infotainment experience. Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain C/C++ services for the infotainment system, with a focus on BSP and OS-level components.
- Develop and test device drivers and BSP components to ensure reliable hardware-software integration.
- Investigate system and BSP failures reported by internal users and external customers, including black screens, frozen screens, and system-level performance issues.
- Perform detailed debugging, issue reproduction, and root-cause analysis at OS, kernel, driver, and system levels.
- Participate in system design activities, including software architecture discussions, documentation, and design reviews.
- Contribute to startup sequence, system boot-up functionality, and platform stability for the infotainment system.
- Collaborate closely with other embedded software, hardware, and platform teams to deliver a best-in-class infotainment solution.
- Apply Agile development practices, including task tracking, sprint planning, and progress reporting using tools such as Jira.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for BSP components, drivers, and system-level features.
- Use scripting (e.g., Python) and automation to support testing, validation, and acceptance testing of BSP and OS components.
- Follow software development best practices and coding standards, including MISRA-related concepts where applicable.
- Participate in critical investigations across the platform to ensure system robustness and high-quality customer experiences.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and debugging methodologies within the team.

Essential Skills

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar scientific field.
- Minimum 3+ years of embedded software development experience.
- 3+ years of experience working on operating systems, kernel, drivers, and core services such as file systems, graphics, networking, USB, and WiFi.
- Strong hands-on C/C++ programming skills at an experienced level.
- Experience developing and/or testing BSP components and device drivers.
- Strong understanding of embedded operating system concepts and hardware-software interaction.
- Experience working with Linux operating systems in an embedded context.
- Experience developing software for embedded multicore systems.
- Ability to perform detailed debugging, issue reproduction, and root-cause analysis for OS and BSP-level issues.
- Experience working in a production software environment with real-world deployments.

- Strong analytical skills, especially in root-causing and troubleshooting system-level issues at OS and BSP layers.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to collaborate effectively with distributed teams.
- Demonstrated passion for solving complex technical problems, often with limited initial information.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Knowledge of QNX operating systems; QNX experience is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with Python scripting at a mid level, particularly for automation and testing.
- Familiarity with software development best practices and coding standards, including MISRA-related concepts.
- Experience with automated scripting and acceptance testing for embedded systems.
- Exposure to Qualcomm-based platforms.
- Automotive or in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) experience.
- Basic understanding and working experience using tools like Jira to track work items and progress.
- Experience in automation programming to support system validation and regression testing.
- Experience collaborating with architects and embedded systems specialists on complex platform programs.

Work Environment This is a hybrid role with an expectation of four days per week in the office. The preferred location is Ottawa, due to close proximity to key technical architects and onboarding support resources, with Oakville considered for exceptional candidates. You will join a broader organization of approximately 25 team members distributed across Canada, the United States, and offshore locations, fostering collaboration across time zones and regions. The team owns the BSP and operating system layers, including kernel-level software, driver-level development, system boot-up functionality, and platform stability, and regularly tackles complex issues such as black screens, frozen screens, and system-level performance concerns. You will work in a highly technical environment focused on major production infotainment platforms already deployed in the market, gaining exposure to BSP, OS, and kernel-level engineering challenges.
