Lab Technician Job Description The Lab Technician supports laboratory operations by maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant lab environment while assisting with sample preparation, testing support, and equipment maintenance. This role ensures the laboratory complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), manages inventory and storage of raw materials and finished products, and provides hands-on support for pilot production and scale-up activities. The position offers the opportunity to work with a growing manufacturing organization that invests heavily in its facilities, research and development, and quality programs, providing room for autonomy and professional growth. Responsibilities

- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and day-to-day upkeep across development, pilot, and storage areas.
- Ensure the laboratory complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Accurately document all laboratory activities in laboratory notebooks or approved forms, following associated test methods and SOPs.
- Manage ingredients and laboratory supply inventory and storage, including raw materials and samples.
- Request raw materials, order supplies, and maintain accurate inventory of raw materials, reagents, samples, and laboratory consumables.
- Organize and maintain storage of reagents, raw materials, samples, finished products, packaging components, and retain samples.
- Perform routine setup, verification, calibration, operation, disassembly, cleaning, and sanitization of laboratory equipment and glassware.
- Coordinate samples for internal and external analysis, including preparing and packaging shipments for third-party testing.
- Coordinate outside service providers for equipment maintenance as needed and ensure proper follow-up.
- Support pilot production and scale-up activities through observation, sample collection, sample testing, data collection, and other tasks as required.
- Assist with miscellaneous laboratory activities such as sample shipment, physical, chemical, or organoleptic testing (e.g., taste, appearance, odor), data collection, and batch manufacture.
- Properly dispose of chemicals and complete necessary forms and documentation related to waste handling.
- Identify and propose innovative and time-saving ideas to improve laboratory functionality and time management.
- Understand and adhere to GMP and safety protocols, including stopping unsafe acts, obeying facility safety rules and procedures, correcting or reporting safety hazards, and supporting safety policies and programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the quality control and laboratory functions.

Essential Skills

- Experience working in a laboratory or environmental testing setting is highly preferred.
- Experience working independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety protocols.
- Ability to maintain accurate, legible, and complete documentation for laboratory activities.
- Computer proficiency with working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills in a laboratory or quality-focused environment.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull 2550 pounds as part of routine laboratory and inventory activities.
- High school diploma required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in laboratory, chemistry, quality control, or QC activities.
- Comfort working in a temporary contract role of approximately 36 months.
- Interest in supporting quality assurance and quality control functions within a growing organization.

Work Environment This role operates in a quality control laboratory within a manufacturing environment, reporting into the quality control leadership structure. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is a temporary contract role expected to last approximately 36 months, and candidates should be comfortable committing to this duration. The laboratory supports the manufacture of powder dietary supplements, tablets, and related packaging formats, and uses a range of analytical and production-support equipment that requires routine setup, calibration, cleaning, and maintenance. The organization has invested significantly in modern manufacturing facilities, including a new warehouse for raw and finished goods, and is actively enhancing its research and development and quality programs, including pursuing SQF certification. The culture emphasizes safety, continuous improvement, and providing autonomy and growth opportunities as the quality and QA/QC teams expand. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
