Indiana Tech is seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial, and collaborative leader to serve as its next Director of the Learning Exchange . Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Director will provide operational and business leadership for the Learning Exchange, Indiana Techs coordinated enterprise for workforce learning, executive and leadership education, professional development, academic readiness, student success, and academic pathways. The Director will also lead NIAIC Connect, a five-institution regional initiative supported by the Lilly Endowment-funded AI in Higher Education grant.
The Director will set the strategic direction for the Learning Exchange portfolio, balancing revenue, enrollment, and mission-focused outcomes. This position will lead the Learning Exchange Operations team, establish pricing and revenue-allocation frameworks for non-credit offerings, manage the portfolios financial performance, and develop corporate training contracts and learning subscriptions. The Director will convene a cross-functional steering committee involving Academic Affairs, Information Technology, Finance, Marketing and Enrollment, and Institutional Effectiveness to establish priorities and address issues that span university departments.
As principal administrator for NIAIC Connect, the Director will oversee grant administration, budget management, milestone tracking, funder reporting, and coordination among the consortiums partner institutions. The Director will guide the initiatives institution storefronts, faculty training, connection and project platform, guided mentoring and evaluation, and employer portal. This role will also cultivate regional employer partnerships, staff the NIAIC Advisory Board, lead the NIAIC Connect Operations team, collaborate with the initiatives independent evaluator, and develop a sustainable operating model that extends beyond the grant period.
The Director will play an important role in connecting credit and non-credit learning experiences across the Learning Exchange and NIAIC Connect. This includes helping build a unified learner identity and record, along with shared services supporting registration, payment, credentialing, and analytics. The Director will also support the hiring, onboarding, and performance management of staff and contribute to the mission, vision, and strategic plan of Indiana Tech.
Required Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will possess a masters degree in higher education administration, business, educational technology, or a related field, along with at least seven years of progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education, workforce development, or continuing or professional education. Experience must include the supervision of professional staff and demonstrated success building or scaling a workforce-learning, professional development, or continuing-education enterprise, including responsibility for business-model development and portfolio management.
Candidates must have experience administering large, grant-funded, multi-institution initiatives, including budget oversight, milestone management, compliance, and funder reporting. The position also requires experience developing employer or industry partnerships and negotiating corporate training, subscription, or licensing agreements. A strong understanding of consortium coordination and employer-facing partnership development is essential.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent strategic, financial, organizational, and relationship-management skills, with the ability to lead complex initiatives involving academic leaders, university departments, external partners, employers, and multiple institutions. Outstanding written, verbal, and executive presentation skills are required, as is the ability to build consensus and move work forward among stakeholders with differing priorities.
Preferred Skills and Experience
A doctoral degree in higher education administration, business, educational technology, or a related field is preferred. Additional preferred experience includes working with online learning platforms, customer relationship management systems, digital credentialing, learner records, enterprise learning services, and multi-institution consortium or governance structures.
Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated success developing sustainable revenue models for education or workforce-learning programs; leading cross-functional teams; building regional employer partnerships; and using enrollment, revenue, learner-outcome, and employer-engagement data to guide decisions. Experience supporting artificial intelligence education, applied-learning initiatives, digital transformation, or regional workforce-development partnerships would further strengthen a candidates qualifications.
