Indiana Tech is seeking a strategic, innovative, and collaborative leader to serve as its next Director of Curriculum Design & AI Integration. Reporting to the Executive Director of the AI Institute, this position provides leadership for curriculum design, instructional innovation, and AI integration across the university. The Director serves as the bridge between faculty ideas and implementation, transforming innovative pedagogical concepts into high-quality, AI-enabled learning experiences that advance student success and academic excellence.

The Director of Curriculum Design & AI Integration is responsible for overseeing institution-wide curriculum design standards, structures, and processes, including AI literacy competencies and AI integration guidelines for courses and academic programs. This position works closely with faculty, academic leadership, instructional designers, and learning technologists to ensure that curriculum innovation aligns with institutional goals, accreditation requirements, and emerging best practices in teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will lead the universitys curriculum redesign operation by supervising the Curriculum Project Manager as well as teams of Learning Designers and Learning Technologists. The Director will establish processes, workflows, professional-development pathways, and quality standards that support scalable course redesign and continuous instructional improvement across academic programs.

Working closely with the AI Faculty Strategist, the Director will receive faculty-generated redesign initiatives and translate pedagogical goals into structured, resourced curriculum projects. This role will oversee the development, implementation, quality assurance, accessibility review, and AI-integration standards for redesigned courses before launch. The Director will also partner with academic deans, program chairs, and accreditation leaders to ensure curriculum initiatives advance program-level outcomes and institutional priorities.

Additional responsibilities include monitoring emerging instructional design practices, evaluating innovations in AI-enabled learning, reporting redesign outcomes and curriculum metrics, and supporting strategic initiatives associated with the universitys AI Institute and AIHE grant activities.

Required Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess a masters degree in instructional design, curriculum and instruction, educational technology, higher education, computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in instructional design, curriculum development, educational innovation, or higher education leadership.

Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of curriculum development, instructional design principles, and the integration of artificial intelligence into teaching and learning environments. The successful candidate will have experience leading instructional design initiatives and creating systems that support high-quality, scalable curriculum development.

The position requires demonstrated experience supervising instructional designers, learning technologists, or similar professional teams. Candidates must possess strong project-management, quality-assurance, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with faculty and academic leaders across disciplines.

Experience with learning management systems, course development platforms, and quality-review processes is required. The successful candidate must also be able to translate educational goals into effective course designs while ensuring consistency, accessibility, and instructional quality across academic offerings.

Preferred Skills and Experience

A doctoral degree in instructional design, curriculum and instruction, educational technology, higher education, artificial intelligence, computer science, or a related field is preferred.

Preferred candidates will have experience integrating artificial intelligence or other emerging educational technologies into curriculum design and course development. Experience working with accreditation, assessment, academic quality-review processes, or program evaluation initiatives is also highly desirable.

Additional preferred qualifications include experience leading large-scale curriculum transformation initiatives, developing instructional design standards, establishing quality-assurance frameworks, creating professional-development programs for instructional teams, and supporting grant-funded innovation projects.
