About this role
Electronics Troubleshooting Technician
Location: Beaverton, OR (Onsite) --- You'll figure out why precision test and measurement instruments fail and then fix them, often down to a single component. About 80% of the job is troubleshooting and diagnostics, and the other 20% is running test gear to prove the repair worked. The team wants people who use solid electronics theory and clear logic to find the problem, not trial and error. Entry level candidates with a bachelor's degree are welcome to apply. --- Responsibilities
- Find the root cause of electronic failures on complex instruments.
- Work through schematics, block diagrams, and wiring diagrams to narrow down where a fault is.
- Trace problems to the component level using a structured, logical approach.
- Use past failure history, in house diagnostic tools, and test data to guide each repair.
- Use electrical engineering basics to predict the most likely failure points before you start swapping parts.
- Run oscilloscopes, signal generators, DMMs, and power supplies to check your repairs.
- Perform functional and performance testing after a fix and confirm pass or fail against spec.
- Help the production floor and engineering teams with technical reviews and failure analysis.
--- Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, an Associate's degree, or electronics experience from time served in the military
- Solid grasp of analog and digital circuits, including passive and active parts
- Ability to read a schematic, name the components on it, and explain what each one does in the circuit
- Knowledge of the common ways electronic assemblies fail
- Hands on skill with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers
- Ability to explain clearly what failed, why it failed, and how you fixed it
Preferred
- MECOP internship or co-op experience
- Field service or equipment technician experience with strong electronics troubleshooting
- Experience with calibration, debugging, electronics testing, and circuit board work
- Mechanical aptitude
--- Work Environment or Schedule This is a fully onsite role in a manufacturing and clean room setting. Most of your day is spent at the bench diagnosing and repairing instruments, with the rest spent running tests and supporting the production floor. --- Skip the wait Book 15 minutes with me and I'll walk you through whether this is worth your time.
