Schedule: Monday – Friday, 4:30 pm - 3:30AM, Saturdays as needed

We are looking for a reliable and adaptable Tack Welder to join our night shift team. In this role, you will support daily fabrication processes by aligning and temporarily joining metal parts before final welding is performed. This is a dynamic position where you will work closely with fitters and lead welders to ensure accurate preparation and keep production moving. If you have basic welding knowledge, are safety-conscious, and are ready to put in the work, we want you on our team.

What You’ll Do

Align, position, and secure metal components using straightedges, squares, and calipers to prepare them for final welding.

Set up, adjust, and operate specific welding machines based on material thickness and project specifications.

Perform short, temporary tack welds on various metal types—including carbon steel and aluminum—to hold parts securely in place according to blueprints.

Operate grinders, wire brushes, and other hand tools to clean and prepare metal surfaces and joints before and after welding.

Assist lead welders and fabricators with various shop duties to maintain smooth business operations and keep production on track.

Strictly adhere to all company safety guidelines (including the proper use of welding PPE), dress codes, and attendance policies.

What You Bring

Basic hands-on knowledge of welding processes (such as MIG or Flux-Core) and experience operating standard industrial welding machines.

AWS (American Welding Society) certification, or equivalent completion of a welding trade school program, is highly preferred.

Ability to read a tape measure accurately and understand basic blueprints or layout instructions.

Ability to maintain high concentration for extended periods while handling repetitive, detailed, and heat-intensive tasks.

Ability to clearly exchange information and follow both written and verbal instructions.

Spanish-speaking is preferred, but not required.

Willingness to work overtime and weekends when production demands require it. (Bonus provided if accommodated)

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Ability to work in a shop and outdoor environment, including exposure to current weather conditions, welding fumes, sparks, and moderate manufacturing noise.

Must be able to stand for extended periods, walk, crouch, kneel, balance, climb stairs, and reach.

Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Knowing how to operate an overhead crane to safely position heavy materials.

Good manual and digital dexterity to accurately manipulate tools, torches, and small parts.

Visual competency (including welding through a hood) to read written work instructions, inspect joint alignments, and hearing capability to receive verbal instructions on a busy shop floor.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $16.00 - $18.00 Per Hour
