About this role

Hunton Services, a division of the Hunton Group, is seeking a Cooling Tower Technician to inspect, maintain, repair, and service cooling towers and related equipment at customer facilities. This role supports reliable system performance by completing preventive maintenance, identifying mechanical issues, performing repairs, and documenting work accurately. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, comfortable working at heights and outdoors, and committed to providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

- Inspect cooling towers, basins, fans, motors, gearboxes, belts, bearings, shafts, nozzles, fill media, drift eliminators, louvers, and related components.

- Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, alignment, adjustments, and mechanical repairs in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and company procedures.

- Troubleshoot vibration, noise, leaks, reduced airflow, water distribution problems, and other mechanical or operational concerns.

- Replace or repair tower components, including belts, bearings, fan assemblies, motors, gearboxes, nozzles, fill, drift eliminators, and structural materials as assigned.

- Support cooling tower cleaning, basin maintenance, and water-management activities while following applicable safety and environmental procedures.

- Use hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, ladders, lifts, and fall-protection systems safely and correctly.

- Complete service reports, inspection findings, time records, material usage, and repair recommendations accurately and on time.

- Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, and team members regarding system condition, work performed, and recommended next steps.

- Maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles, and assigned work areas in a clean and serviceable condition.

- Follow all company, customer-site, OSHA, and job-specific safety requirements, including lockout/tagout, confined-space, and fall-protection procedures when applicable.

- Participate in training and assist other technicians as needed.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED required.

- Previous experience in cooling tower service, HVAC, industrial maintenance, millwright work, mechanical service, or a related trade preferred.

- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and the ability to use common hand and power tools.

- Ability to read equipment manuals, service instructions, and basic mechanical drawings.

- Strong troubleshooting, organization, communication, and customer-service skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in active commercial and industrial environments.

- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required. Ability to travel to customer locations and work overtime, weekends, or on-call hours as business needs require.

- OSHA training, lift certification, rigging experience, or manufacturer-specific cooling tower training is preferred.

Physical Requirements

- Regularly stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and work with hands for extended periods.

- Frequently climb ladders and stairs and work from elevated platforms, lifts, rooftops, or cooling tower structures while using required fall protection.

- Lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds; heavier items require team lifting or mechanical assistance.

- Work indoors and outdoors in heat, cold, humidity, rain, noise, wet conditions, and around operating mechanical equipment.

- Wear required personal protective equipment and safely perform work in confined or restricted spaces when trained and authorized.
