Position Summary
The ESG Analyst supports the execution of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies and initiatives across Global Purchasing and the broader ESG function. The role is responsible for collecting, analyzing, validating, and reporting ESG data, including greenhouse gas emissions metrics, supplier sustainability performance, and ESG program outcomes. The ESG Analyst partners with internal stakeholders to support responsible sourcing initiatives, sustainability reporting, customer and regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement efforts that advance organizational ESG objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, validate, analyze, and maintain ESG-related data and performance metrics.
- Coordinate the collection, validation, analysis, and reporting of Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions data.
- Develop dashboards, scorecards, reports, and presentations that communicate ESG performance and trends.
- Support sustainability reporting, customer inquiries, assessments, and disclosure requirements.
- Support supplier sustainability assessments, ESG due diligence activities, and responsible sourcing programs.
- Analyze supplier ESG performance data and recommend improvement opportunities.
- Partner with Purchasing, Supply Chain, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and other business stakeholders on ESG initiatives.
- Identify ESG risks, data gaps, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Lead assigned project workstreams, analyses, and reporting deliverables under the guidance of the ESG Director.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, Data Analytics, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, responsible sourcing, environmental compliance, data analytics, supply chain sustainability, or a related discipline.
- Working knowledge of ESG principles, sustainability practices, responsible sourcing, and greenhouse gas emissions reporting concepts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency and strong PowerPoint skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally in a global environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience with ESG reporting frameworks, sustainability disclosures, or supplier sustainability assessments.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SAP, or similar reporting and analytics tools.
- Experience in a manufacturing, automotive, or complex global organization.
Scope & Decision Authority
- Functions as an individual contributor with responsibility for assigned ESG analyses, reporting activities, and project deliverables.
- Provides recommendations regarding ESG performance, emissions reporting, supplier sustainability, and process improvements.
- Strategic decisions, policy interpretations, disclosure approvals, and ESG target setting remain the responsibility of the ESG Director and designated leadership stakeholders.
- No direct people-management responsibility.
