Job Title: Greeter Job Description
The Greeter serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors entering the medical center lobby, creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere. This role focuses on greeting and assisting guests, explaining and facilitating the visitor policy, and ensuring that visitors are properly identified and directed to the appropriate services or waiting areas. The position collaborates closely with volunteers and admitting staff and supports the facility with a variety of clerical tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and visitors as they enter the medical center lobby and provide a warm, professional first impression of the facility.
- Explain and communicate the visitor policy clearly and courteously to all guests.
- Distribute visitor badges to individuals entering the facility and ensure badges are collected upon exit as required.
- Direct visitors and patients to appropriate services, departments, and designated waiting areas.
- Collaborate and coordinate with volunteers and admitting staff to support efficient visitor flow and a positive experience.
- Work in partnership with the security team to support effective visitor management and adherence to facility protocols.
- Perform a variety of clerical assignments, such as basic administrative tasks and documentation, as directed.
- Maintain a courteous, patient-focused approach in a busy healthcare environment, handling questions and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Support a safe and organized lobby environment by monitoring visitor activity and responding to issues or requests as needed.
Essential Skills
- Strong customer service background with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Ability to work effectively in a healthcare or medical setting, demonstrating comfort in a hospital environment.
- Solid communication skills to clearly explain visitor policies and provide directions.
- Basic administrative and clerical skills to handle routine office tasks and documentation.
- Ability to collaborate with volunteers, admitting staff, and security personnel as part of a broader visitor management team.
- Availability to work 34 evening or night shifts per week, including required Sunday shifts and rotating Saturdays.
- Flexibility to work scheduled hours such as 1:00 p.m.8:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m.8:00 p.m. as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Approximately 1 year of healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience in a hospital or large healthcare organization is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm and courteous in a busy, high-traffic environment.
- Interest in long-term growth and development within a large healthcare organization.
Work Environment
This role is based in a hospital setting within the medical center lobby, working as part of a visitor management team of approximately 1520 people in partnership with the security team. The environment is dynamic and patient-focused, with frequent interaction with patients, families, and visitors. Shifts are typically scheduled 34 nights per week, with hours such as 1:00 p.m.8:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m.8:00 p.m., and weekends are required, including mandatory Sundays and rotating Saturdays. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oxnard, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
