JOB SUMMARY:

Bus Drivers are an essential part of the guest experience and daily operations at Mission Ridge. This role involves transporting guests and employees between the Mission Ridge parking lot and offsite parking areas using resort shuttle buses. Candidates must be self-motivated, punctual, organized, and possess excellent people skills and guest service abilities.

Bus Drivers must be able to safely operate a shuttle bus in all weather conditions on a mountain road and hold a valid drivers license with a Class C CDL endorsement. The position requires assisting guests with loading and unloading gear, performing daily safety inspections, keeping the bus clean, and supporting alternative parking plans during peak periods. Flexibility is crucial, as this role may be asked to assist in other areas of resort operations as needed.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS:

- Age and License Requirements: Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license and Class C CDL endorsement.

- Daily Vehicle Safety Checks: Conduct pre- and post-trip safety inspections of the bus.

- Insurance Eligibility: Must meet insurance requirements to operate company vehicles.

- Fueling Responsibilities: Refuel the bus at the end of each shift.

- Snow Removal: Shovel snow at various locations as needed.

- Vehicle Condition and Reporting: Maintain a safe and clean vehicle; report any mechanical issues to management or vehicle maintenance personnel.

- Guest Assistance: Help guests and employees load and unload gear and equipment.

- Work Hours: Flexible availability to work 10–40+ hours per week, depending on weather and snow conditions.
Cold Weather Preparedness: Must be dressed appropriately for working in cold weather conditions. Some cold-weather clothing may be provided by Mission Ridge.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

- Valid CDL License: Required Class C CDL endorsement for shuttle bus operation.

- Public Interaction: Must be comfortable and courteous when interacting with guests and staff.

- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly with the public and within the team.

- Customer Service Mindset: Friendly and approachable demeanor with a strong focus on guest satisfaction.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a valid drivers license and a Class C CDL endorsement. A clean driving record and the ability to be insured under company vehicle policies are required. Prior experience operating passenger vehicles in mountain or winter conditions is preferred but not required. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The position involves working outdoors in cold and variable weather conditions, including snow, wind, rain, and icy conditions. Candidates must be physically capable of shoveling snow, assisting with loading gear, and standing for extended periods. Attention to safety and the ability to operate a vehicle under challenging conditions are critical.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Bus Drivers operate in a dynamic, outdoor mountain environment and must be prepared for all types of weather. The role involves driving on steep and potentially icy roads while ensuring guest safety and comfort. Weekend, holiday, and extended shifts are common during the ski season. Mission Ridge maintains a drug- and alcohol-free workplace and is a non-smoking facility. Due to the seasonal nature of the industry, all employees may be subject to reduced hours or temporary layoffs.

-Consistent and constant standing and walking while in operation.

-The position requires the ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and crouch for extended periods.

Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: FREQUENTLY

-Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: RARELY

-Must be able to write, type, and use phone system
