About this role
Our risk operations platform is the internal workspace where several hundred analysts investigate and remediate high-stakes cases across Intuit's money-movement businesses — payments, payroll and banking, lending, compliance, and onboarding. Decisions made there determine whether a small business gets its funds released, its account restricted, or its onboarding approved.
The platform is in the middle of its biggest shift since it was built. AI agents now sit in front of the case queue, handling thousands of cases a week. Over the next year that moves from a bolt-on to the front door of the product: That changes what the analyst's job *is* . They stop gathering data and start exercising judgment on what an AI already assembled. Nobody has designed that product yet — not the AI-authored case brief, not the analyst–agent collaboration model, not the trust and escalation surfaces, not what happens to the legacy widgets the AI just made irrelevant.
You will own that experience end to end as a key partner in setting design strategy, working with a platform mindset across multiple squads. It is the hardest kind of AI design problem: high-stakes, regulated, expert users, real consequences for being wrong, and years of accumulated platform fragmentation to untangle.
Responsibilities
- Design strategy: Set the vision and the frameworks and principles that guide it, before the deliverables. Drive the end-to-end experience of a complex, multi-team domain.
- Designing for trust in AI: Make automated reasoning legible and give people a clear path to accept, override, or escalate a machine decision.
- Systems thinking: Design reusable capabilities rather than one-off features, and know the design system well enough to stretch it deliberately.
- Interaction design: Own and visualize the end-to-end flows and hold consistency of patterns and mental models across teams.
- AI acumen : Design through working prototypes rather than static mocks, using AI-assisted tooling to move from concept to something testable quickly.
- Customer obsession: Get in front of users regularly, get to the 'why' behind their behavior, and hold the team accountable to it.
- Influence : Balance inquiry with a clear point of view, decide once input is sufficient, and tell the story credibly to senior leadership.
- Technical and data fluency : Challenge constraints rather than absorb them, and tie design outcomes to the metrics the business runs on.
- Design leadership : Lead experience reviews and craft forums beyond your own projects, mentor designers, and raise the bar for product and engineering partners.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years in product or interaction design, with a portfolio showing end-to-end ownership of complex initiatives at scale.
- Mastery of interaction, visual, and prototyping craft, with the judgment to know when to hold the system and when to break it.
- Experience designing complex, data-dense tools for expert users — internal platforms, operations consoles, case management, agent workspaces. This is not consumer surface work.
- Demonstrated ability to design AI-powered experiences people trust: explainability, confidence, human-in-the-loop, graceful failure.
- Hands-on design technology — advanced prototyping in Figma plus AI-assisted tools, and enough comfort with front-end code to build and ship working prototypes.
- Platform mindset: reusable capabilities consumed by other teams, not one-off features.
- Expert command of user-centered design methods and the ability to coach partners through them.
- Data fluency — able to read operational metrics, define success criteria, and use quant and qual evidence to set strategy.
- Strong written, verbal, and visual communication; able to influence senior leadership without authority.
- Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Human Factors, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred
- Risk, fraud, trust & safety, compliance, or financial services operations experience.
- Experience designing agentic or LLM-based interfaces.
- Familiarity with regulated environments and the constraints of audit and identity/verification requirements.
- Service design experience spanning the customer-facing and agent-facing sides of one journey.
- Experience mentoring designers or leading craft forums in a design-light organization.
