Job Overview:
The Program for Initial Resettlement Caseworker Assistant supports refugee and other ORR-eligible populations during their integration into the United States by assisting with service delivery, client support, documentation, transportation, and resource coordination. Working under the guidance of the Cash and Medical and Initial Resettlement Coordinator, the Caseworker Assistant helps ensure clients have access to essential services and resources while promoting self-sufficiency, stability, and successful community integration.
Major Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in coordinating pre-arrival and post-arrival services to ensure clients receive essential support upon arrival.
- Support airport pickups, housing setup, food assistance, transportation arrangements, and community orientation activities.
- Assist clients with navigating community resources and accessing essential services.
- Conduct client intake and assessment activities to help identify household strengths, needs, and priorities.
- Develop individualized self-sufficiency plans and SMART goals in partnership with each client.
- Provide referrals and follow up on service connections, appointments, and action items.
- Support the distribution of direct assistance and program-related resources according to organizational and funder requirements.
- Maintain regular communication with assigned clients to support progress toward established goals.
- Document client interactions, services provided, referrals, and outcomes accurately and timely.
- Enter and maintain client records in ETO and other required databases.
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers and partner organizations.
- Use personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (where available) to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education: Associate degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
Work Experience:
- At least 2 years’ experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.
- Experience providing customer service, case management support, or community outreach preferred.
Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to learn to navigate or familiarity with database systems such as IRIS and Efforts to Outcomes (ETO)
- Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
- Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by IRC’s clients is desired;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research and problem-solving purposes.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.
Working Environment:
- A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
- Will require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
Compensation: ($18.45). Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements
