About this role
Responsible for a wide range of inspection functions supporting sheet metal, assembly and machining operations without direct supervision. Interprets drawings, specifications, GD&T, MRB inputs and quality standards to perform and document inspection functions, including First Article Inspection Reports.
- Perform first article inspections on machined parts per AS9102 using micrometers, calipers, CMM and other measurement devices while working in compliance with AS9100 standards
- Conduct inspection of finished machined parts; include in-process from first piece to final inspection
- Working knowledge of conventional inspection tools and gauges such as: micrometers, calipers, thread gauges
- Participate in audits for AS9100 and Customers
- Perform analytical investigations and develop root cause for non-conformance NCMRs and RMAs
- Set up and operate CMM, as well as other measurement/inspection tools (Verisurf is a plus)
- Prepare product and inspection data for customer source inspection events; present product for buy-off and re-verify characteristics as requested by the Customer Representative
- Mentor Level I Inspectors on inspection methods and documentation
- Communicates with internal customers
- Miscellaneous tasks as assigned
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE :
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an aerospace/aircraft environment
- Minimum 3 years Quality Inspection aerospace/aircraft
- GD&T tolerance application
- Inspection of machined parts
REQUIREMENTS :
- Proficient in the use of precision measurement tools/equipment including but not limited to caliper, micrometer, height gage, hardness and conductivity
- Familiar with surface finish, edge preparation and general appearance of machined parts
- Familiar with outside processing certifications
- Proficient with Engineering drawings/models
- Computer literate
- Understanding of GD&T tolerance
- Basic knowledge of CATIA
- Set up and operate a CMM
- Basic understanding of CNC machining
- Understanding AS9100/QMS
- Perform audits and report findings
- Perform RCCA to solve issues using Lean Manufacturing tools
- Understanding and performing FAIRs per AS9102 (Net-Inspect is a plus)
