Michael Baker International’s Construction Services staff supports clients by acting as their trusted on-site agent through all phases of construction, from pre-design to close-out, by providing qualified construction managers, inspectors, constructability reviewers, schedulers, estimators and safety experts. What We're Looking For:
Michael Baker is actively seeking a CEI Project Manager to join our San Antonio, TX office. The CEI Project Manager will be responsible for leading and managing transportation construction engineering and inspection (CEI) projects throughout the San Antonio region and across Texas. This role will oversee field supervisors, provide leadership to inspection teams, and support the successful delivery of highway and bridge construction projects, primarily for TxDOT. This is a leadership position requiring extensive construction management, contract administration, business development, and client relationship experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of transportation CEI and Construction Management services, a history of successful project delivery, and the ability to foster long-term client partnerships.
What You'll Do:
- Coordinate with construction contractors, owners, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
- Provide oversight of CEI teams to ensure quality project delivery and compliance with TxDOT requirements.
- Oversee change order evaluations, inspector performance, and resolution of construction issues.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and overall financial performance.
- Support contract negotiations and fee development for CEI and construction management projects.
- Lead marketing and business development efforts to expand Michael Baker’s CEI presence in the San Antonio and South Texas markets.
- Recruit, develop, and manage inspection staff for transportation projects.
- Mentor and develop junior CEI Project Managers and inspection personnel.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with TxDOT, local agencies, contractors, and industry partners.
- Implement CEI and construction management best practices across the region.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of transportation construction engineering, inspection, and construction management experience.
- Experience delivering TxDOT roadway and bridge construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of TxDOT procedures, specifications, and construction inspection requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership, project management, and client relationship skills.
- Proven business development and team-building capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with MicroStation, Primavera P6, and/or MS Project preferred.
- TxDOT certifications and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Compensation:
The approximate compensation range for this position is $125,000 to $195,000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
