Job Title: Senior Project Manager Job Description
The Senior Project Manager reports to the Project Lead and manages and supports multiple work streams within a broader program of work, ensuring that strategy and execution align with the overall work stream vision. This role is accountable for delivering successful transitions and integrations by coordinating direct and indirect resources across geographically dispersed locations. The Senior Project Manager works closely with local and regional Senior stakeholders, driving objectives to completion with minimal oversight. Work streams span people, process, technology, and real estate components that collectively deliver the target operating model for the finance function. The position requires extensive experience in major change initiatives and a proven track record of delivering large, complex projects.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support multiple work streams within a larger program to ensure alignment with the overall work stream vision and target operating model.
- Oversee successful transitions and integrations by coordinating direct and indirect resources across geographically dispersed locations.
- Communicate clearly with key management colleagues and team members about project activities that must be accomplished across regions or functions.
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects and programs simultaneously, ensuring progress, alignment, and timely delivery.
- Select and utilize appropriate project implementation documentation, including implementation toolkits and migration schedules, to support effective execution.
- Support the facilitation of projects by identifying, escalating, and communicating risks and their impact on business initiatives to management.
- Provide strategic support for the portfolio of work, ensuring that projects contribute to broader organizational objectives.
- Design and create strategic project documentation, including business cases, assessments, communication plans, and detailed project plans.
- Present project updates and deliver presentations to Senior-level management within the finance organization.
- Lead and support decision-making processes required for progress on assigned programs and projects, helping to facilitate problem solving on key project issues.
- Support and maintain work stream controls and compliance, ensuring adherence to established project governance.
- Proactively follow and adhere to project controls for assigned projects, including timelines, scope, and quality standards.
- Identify and resolve issues proactively, managing project and program deliverables and mitigating risks to keep initiatives on track.
- Escalate significant issues and risks to management in a timely manner and ensure that appropriate actions are taken.
- Ensure that change control processes for assigned projects and programs are functioning effectively and remain aligned across functions.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of project management experience leading complex projects or programs.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Experience with workflow management and process coordination across regions or functions.
- Demonstrated experience in change management and change control management within large or complex environments.
- Portfolio management experience, with the ability to support and prioritize a portfolio of projects and programs.
- Exposure to accounting and finance environments, with an understanding of finance and accounting concepts.
- Proven track record of delivering major change initiatives and large-scale projects.
- Ability to manage direct and indirect resources across geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present project updates and strategic information to Senior-level management.
- Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and escalate issues appropriately.
- Proficiency in MS Teams, Microsoft Excel, and Smartsheet as primary tools for collaboration, tracking, and reporting.
- Self-motivated and able to drive objectives to conclusion with minimal oversight.
- Comfort interacting with local and regional Senior stakeholders and building effective working relationships.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience designing and developing project business cases, assessments, communication plans, and detailed project plans.
- Experience supporting work stream controls and compliance within a structured project governance framework.
- Ability to facilitate problem solving and decision making on key project items in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and programs.
- Experience working on initiatives that involve people, process, technology, and real estate components.
Work Environment
This role operates in a hybrid work environment, with in-office presence required Monday through Wednesday and remote work flexibility on other days. The position involves collaboration with geographically dispersed teams and regular interaction with Senior stakeholders in finance. MS Teams, Microsoft Excel, and Smartsheet serve as the primary technologies for communication, collaboration, and project tracking. The work focuses on managing complex change initiatives within a structured, professional setting that emphasizes project controls, compliance, and cross-functional coordination.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Urbandale, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52.88 - $60.05/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
