Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist I Job Description This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-volume central laboratory that provides comprehensive testing and bioanalysis services within an Immunology-focused team. As a Medical Lab Scientist I, you will perform routine and complex clinical laboratory tests, ensure the reliability of results, and support high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, highly technical environment. Responsibilities
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria and laboratory protocols.
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper functionality and minimize downtime.
- Make sound technical decisions regarding testing, result interpretation, and problem solving.
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls to support accurate and reliable test performance.
- Report accurate and timely test results to support high-quality patient care and clinical decision-making.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance on instruments and conduct required quality control procedures.
- Identify, monitor, and replenish testing bench supplies as needed to maintain continuous workflow.
- Assist with the processing of specimens when required to support overall laboratory operations.
- Maintain a safe work environment and consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 1+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
- Hands-on experience with LC-MS or MS techniques.
- Strong pipetting skills, including experience pipetting 96-well plates.
- Experience in immunology-related laboratory testing and assays.
- Familiarity with techniques such as ELISA, urinalysis, microbiology, hematology, and general medical laboratory testing.
- Knowledge of equipment and instrument validation processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a clinical laboratory environment.
- High level of attention to detail with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen.
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.
- Prior validation experience, including assay, equipment, and instrument validation.
- Proficiency with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems.
- Experience or training in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Immunology, or related disciplines.
- Experience with chromatography, including liquid chromatography (LC) and LC/MS or LC-MS techniques.
- Strong understanding of mass spectrometry and related analytical methods.
Work Environment This role is based onsite at a central laboratory facility in Indianapolis, working within an Immunology team that supports high-throughput clinical testing and bioanalysis services. The schedule follows a Monday through Friday workweek on a first shift, typically 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the expectation of flexibility to work overtime or different shifts as business needs require. The environment is highly technical and instrument-driven, utilizing technologies such as LC-MS, mass spectrometry, ELISA, liquid chromatography, and other clinical laboratory platforms. Team members work in a regulated laboratory setting that emphasizes safety, quality control, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required and must be worn consistently to maintain a safe and compliant workplace.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
